LAGAWE, Ifugao, – – This province has won six awards during the 2019 Cordillera Regional Gawad Saka awarding ceremony held in Baguio City last June 28.
Ifugao won the 2019 Outstanding Province for Regional Organic Agriculture Achievers Award for the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) while the towns of Lamut bagged the Outstanding Municipality for Regional Organic Agriculture Achievers Award and Alfonso Lista as Outstanding Municipality Regional Quality Corn Achiever.
The 4H Club of Aguinaldo was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmers Organization, the third time that it won said award.
Catherine Buenaventura of the Provincial Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Office was feted as the Outstanding Organic Agriculture Provincial Focal Person for CAR while Jennifer Dulnuan was named the Outstanding Organic Agricultural Extension Worker.
The Gawad Saka Award is an incentive program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to encourage the present and future generations to always find ways to expand their capabilities, innovate and make mark in agriculture and continue serving as contributors to food security.
The DA annually recognizes and honors farmers, fisherfolk and raisers as wells as groups who have excelled and made significant contributions in the development the agriculture and fishery sectors in their respective communities and the country.**JDP/DBC- PIA CAR, Ifugao
