HINGYON, Ifugao, April 22 (PIA) – – The municipal local government unit (MLGU) here has started accepting qualified applicants for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) this summer.
Mayor Geraldo Luglug informed barangay officials that a total of 92 slots are available with seven slots each for the 12 barangays and eight slots to be assigned at the municipal office.
Applicants should be poor but deserving students who are 18 to 30 years old at the time of application; must have obtained a general passing average during the last school year for high school students and last or first semester attended for college students. The parents’ combined annual net income after tax must not exceed the regional annual poverty threshold of P149, 442.00 for the preceeding year as determined by the National Economic and Development Authority.
Luglug requested the barangay officials to select the students-workers in their respective communities based on provided guidelines.
“Successful applicants shall submit four copies of the needed documents at the Public Employment Service Office as soon as possible for processing. Please ensure the completeness of the documents before submission,” the mayor stated.
The SPES is a youth employment-bridging program led by the Department of Labor and Employment to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer and/or Christmas vacation or any time of the year to augment the family’s income to help ensure that beneficiaries are able to pursue their education. The DOLE and the employing entity provide counterparts for the salaries of the student workers. **JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao
