LAGAWE, Ifugao, April 27 (PIA) – – Mayor Martin Habawel, Jr. placed this capital town under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from April 23 until May 21, 2021 due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
Habawel stated in his Executive Order No. D-01 that as of April 20, Lagawe has 288 active cases in 12 barangays, five COVID-related deaths in 15 days and recorded 380 cases in 28 days.
Barangays of Boliwong, Burnay, Caba, Cudog, Luta, Olilicon, Poblacion East, Poblacion North, Poblacion South, Poblacion West, Pullaan and Tungngod are classified as critical zones while the rest of the barangays are containment zones.
Ifugao is under General Community Quarantine status but Habawel explained that the Local Government Code authorizes the local chief executive of every local government unit to carry out emergency measures as may be necessary during and in the aftermath of man-made and natural disasters and calamities.
Under the EO, the Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines shall be strictly implemented like the minimum public health standard; observance of home quarantine in all households; operation of business establishments and offices; mass gatherings and the like.
Movement of person to, from and within critical areas shall be strictly limited to accessing essential goods and services and for work in permitted offices and establishments. Non -residents going into containment zones for permitted activities thereat not beyond 5:00 PM must be supervised by the barangay local government unit.
Incoming travelers and returning residents must be placed on quarantine for at least 14 days for monitoring. Travellers merely passing through Lagawe and are destined to other localities maybe allowed transit as long as they proceed directly through and shall not make unnecessary stopovers within the municipality.
Except for medical emergencies, nightshift workers, cargo vehicles and the like, all persons shall be inside their residences from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Barangay local government units (BLGUS) may establish checkpoints within their jurisdictions or boundaries or joint checkpoints with other barangays.
The Lagawe Municipal Police Station and the Municipal Anti-criminality and General Services shall continue to man the Ibulao checkpoint and may re-establish the Nightingle checkpoint for the implementation of the order.
Checkpoints are authorized to refuse the entry, re-entry or exit of person whose purpose of travel are not in the category allowed by Omnibus Guidelines or the order. BLGUs with no active COVID-19 cases or with less than five active cases are directed to strategize ways to minimize the number and frequency of persons going out the barangay.
COVID-19 infected persons will be allowed to be on quarantine and persons on quarantine awaiting their RT-PCR results must diligently abide by their quarantine restrictions. The municipal government shall continue to furnish the affected barangays with the list of COVID-19 infected persons and those on quarantine.
The public is encouraged to report to the municipal health office and the police any COVID-19 infected persons or persons on quarantine who violate quarantine regulations.
As of April 26, 2021,the municipality recorded a total 588 confirmed cases with 269 recoveries, 313 active cases and six COVID- related death. **JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao
