Baguio City- Fresh from an impressive outing after smashing Indonesian Adrian Mattheis into oblivion just 23 seconds in the very first of their scheduled three rounds on the undercard of ONE Friday Fights 34, Baguio born fighter Lito Adiwang is scheduled for a rematch against former foe.
It was Adiwang who first brought the excitement to all of the ONE Championship fans around the world on ONE Friday Fights 34 last September when he countered the raging Mattheis with his signature shattering right hand punch that sent his opponent down, eventually ending the fight with a barrage of powerful ground and pound strikes.
Held at the mecca of legendary Muay Thai fights in Bangkok, Thailand the event was headlined by two of the finest new generation Thai warriors “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 that showcased explosive matches and featuring five finishes out of the 11 fights. This impressive last outing of the “Thunder Kid” which many mixed martial arts fans expected to be awarded with a performance bonus is a career redefining output as he was sidelined for one year and almost six months following his injury in the first fight against Miado, “The Jaguar” from Albay.
Now at 30, with a 71 percent finishing rate and training at the Soma Fight Club in Bali, Indonesia, Lito is back on the winning circle and excited to showcase his newly polished arsenal inside the ONE Championship arena.
This coming November 4, 2023, the Igorot fighting superstar will be a part of a historic night in the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on ONE Fight Night 16 headlined by British Muay Thai sensation and champion Jonathan Haggerty who will square-off against Brazilian phenom and MMA champion Fabricio Andrade for the vacant bantamweight kickboxing strap. He will be fighting a Filipino compatriot Jeremy Miado in a rematch. The two warriors first met last year in the undercard of ONE X in Singapore in which the Igorot suffered an injury in the second of their scheduled three round bout which was ruled as a TKO loss.
Adiwang and Miado’s first encounter was a barn-burner explosive performance where the two kept a fast-paced war in which the Igorot seemed to have had the edge from any angle until the sudden injury. While Miado took home the victory, many spectators questioned his decision to attempt to punch the then limping Igorot warrior signalling his surrender because of the injury.
The Igorot fighter is very popular for his bone shattering knock out power, timing, explosiveness and lethal kimura submission while “The Jaguar” from Albay possesses a sharp striking arsenal also boosting a 100 percent finishing rate. So comes the scheduled fight. International fight fans will witness a dazzling mixed martial arts performance from the two notorious Filipino finishers.** By Tan Dulag
