CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga- – The crime rate in the province from January-August this year decreased as reported by the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) during the joint 3rd Quarter Provincial Peace and Order Council-Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council meeting.
For comparative crime volume, KPPO recorded 310 crimes from January-August 2019, which is 46 or 14.84 percent lower compared to 356 incidents for the same period last year.
For index crime, KPPO recorded 67 incidents as compared to 60 last year and for non-index crime, 243incidents were recorded for Jan-Aug 2019 or 17.91% lower compared to the 296 last year.
Governor Ferdinand Tubban assured the KPPO of the provincial LGU’s support saying the decrease in crime rate results in improved business climate and more investors.
Meanwhile, Kalinga and its component local government units passed the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) audit on their 2018 functionality as reported by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The LGUs are scored on the following indicators: organized local, conduct of meetings , allocation of funds for the implementation of anti-drug activities as indicated in the peace and order and public safety plans, and innovations .
Based on the audit report, Tabuk City and the municipalities of Balbalan, Lubuagan, Rizal and Tanudan got high grades while Pasil, Pinukpuk and Tinglayan got moderate high grades.
“The functionality of PADAC( Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council) not lower than 90% falls within the excellent or ideal range,” said Baldo Garnace Jr. of DILG.
