CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga– Kalinga province was allocated P173.5 million this year for road improvement under the Conditional Matching Grant for Provinces (CMGP) formerly called KALSADA program.
The Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) reported that P99.5M was appropriated for the upgrading and improvement of the 8.25-kilometer Cabaruan-Socbot provincial road which was bidded out last May 10.
Engr. Cynthia Imperial of the PPDO said the road will enhance travel and transport of goods from the northern part of this city and a barangay of Pinukpuk to the market, and will connect to a planned circumferential road towards Rizal.
Another project is the upgrading and improvement of the 6.80-kilometer Cabaritan-Dugpa provincial road. Said project amounting to P74M was likewise bidded out already.
Imperial said Kalinga received last year P75M under the KALSADA program for the upgrading of the 5.85-km Bulanao-Laya-Balong (Burayucan Section) provincial road which was completed April this year. This is a boost to the agricultural production of barangays along said route.
For 2018, the province has proposed P536M for the upgrading of five provincial roads.** PIA Kalinga
