BAGUIO CITY – The provincial government of Kalinga has announced that Governor Ferdinand Tubban was tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a post on its official social media account, the provincial government announced “Kakailians (town mates), our Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban wishes to announce with regrets that he has tested positive through RT PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) for Covid-19 on Monday (Feb. 8).”
It also said the governor is concerned about and wishes everyone’s safety especially during the pandemic and asked everyone he got in contact with to monitor their condition.
“He requests all persons that he might have contacts or interactions in the past week to observe for signs and symptoms of Covid-19, and to consult a health worker if these are felt or experienced,” it added.
The governor through the official page of the local government urged his constituents to strictly follow the minimum public health standards that include frequent hand washing, wearing of face mask and face shield, and to observe physical distancing of at least one meter.
Tubban also called on the public to help each other end the spread of the disease.
As of Monday, the Department of Health-Cordillera Covid-19 tracker showed that Kalinga province has recorded a total of 1,475 Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The province was earlier placed on strict community quarantine a week before the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was put on general community quarantine on Feb. 1. **PNA
