CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, (PIA) – – The Philippine National Police is tightening its security measures for the upcoming midterm polls and will deploy personnel to every polling precinct this coming election to maintain peace and order.
OIC Provincial Director PSSupt. Russel Job Balaquit said there are 17 risk areas in the province mainly in the towns of Lubuagan and Balbalan so additional forces under the Quick Response Team (QRT) and the regular police force will be deployed.
The Joint Security Control Center of the PNP and COMELEC in its categorization of hot spots puts Lubuagan as “Red”; the municipalities of Balbalan, Pasil, Pinukpuk as “Orange”, Rizal is categorized as “Yellow”, and Tanudan and Tinglayan are under “Blue” category. Tabuk City is downgraded from “Red” to “Orange.
The PNP provincial command also endorsed some of its personnel to train on voting procedures and voting machine operation to serve as Electoral Board in poll precincts where teachers don’t like to serve due to fear..
It can be recalled that some PNP personnel served as Board of Election Inspectors in Mabongtot polling center in Lubuagan during the 2016 elections.
In another development, the PNP Tactical Operations Center in its monitoring as of March 31, 2019, reported one apprehension of a government employeedue to violation of the gun ban.
