CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) — The Kalinga State University (KSU) reinforces its position in fostering innovation and promoting student mobility and openness as it clinched place in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
KSU President Eduardo T. Bagtang informed that the WURI ranked KSU “101-200” among the World University Rankings for Innovation.
KSU has also been ranked “51-100 among the World University Rankings for Innovation in Student Mobility and Openness.”
The two certificates issued by the WURI on May 18, 2023 were received by KSU on July 16.
Bagtang said KSU’s recognition by the WURI was mainly due to three innovative projects namely the “Project CuBE-RIKS2: Culture-Based Education – Revitalizing Indigenous Knowledge Systems in the 21st Century in Kalinga Province,” Project MARISOL: Making ASEAN Requisites Intensified and Strengthened through Organized Learning Sessions,” and TraCIES: Tracing Culture for Inclusive Education Sustainability.
Project CuBE-RIKS2 adopts culture-based education where the university integrates under its education program the preservation and enrichment of the Kalinga indigenous people’s culture.
Under Project MARISOL, KSU has developed a study hub on ASEAN culture, economy and social environment leading to strengthening of regional cooperation.
TraCIES features the establishment of campus-based Kalinga Cultural Heritage and Edu-Tourism Center to provide experiential learning for participants of cultural exchange. The project aims to make KSU as an educational-tourism destination.
Bagtang acknowledged the entire KSU team for achieving the WURI recognition for the institution, the province and the Cordillera Region.
The WURI, according to the Commission on Higher Education, is one of the three international ranking bodies, along with the QS and Times Higher Education, that it acknowledges pursuant to the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11448 or the “Transnational Higher Education Act.” **JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga
