Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan bared the plan of the provincial government to construct an underground pay parking space underneath the provincial plaza at the side of the street from the circle to the Pines Kitchenette.
He conveyed the plan to the heads and assistant heads of the provincial government offices in a meeting held at the Ridge Brooke Hotel on January 26, 2017.
“This is to help ease the lack of parking spaces in the capital town”, he said.
Parking spaces in the town had been a recurring problem especially during special events and occasions when many vehicles, big and small, come to town.
It is also observed that the lack of parking spaces have been aggravated by the washouts and denudations at the Samoki side banks of the Chico River and the ever increasing number of vehicles in town.
In a follow up interview with the governor last Friday, he intimated that P15 million have been allocated, P5 million in the 2016 budget and another P10 million in the 2017 budget of the province, for the purpose.
“We will augment the amount in the future, if need be, to complete the project”, he said.
He said that from the side of the street will start the excavation to the center of the plaza. Once the concrete slab is done with, the soil will be brought back to cover the concrete and will look like the present actual design.
The program of work of the project is now being done by the personnel of the Provincial Engineering Office.
Ask what will happen to the skating rink and the round shaded area at the middle of the plaza? Lacwasan said that the same will be rebuilt after the underground parking space is done.** Roger Sacyaten
