The Lao-lan Arnis team of Makati City dominated the eighty (80) team delegations from all over the Philippines by hauling a total of 14 gold, 10 silver & 11 bronze medals to be crowned as the Over-all champion in the 2026 Baguio Day National Invitational Arnis Tournament last September 26-27, 2026 at the Auditorium of Baguio City High School (BCHS), Gov. Pack Road, Baguio City.
A community dance was led by the BCHS Cultural Group in the opening program. Councilors Van Oliver Dicang and Vladimir D. Cayabas delivered their messages to show the support of the Local Government Unit of Baguio City.
Grand Masters Ryan C. Gialogo (representing PEKAF NSA Board Member Richardson C. Gialogo) and Bonnie A. Celendro (Iloilo province – Dinagyang Bastonero Arnis System) were further given recognition in respect to their status as Grand Masters by the Baguio City LGU officials and BBLADES Officers President Karl Mico D. Alangui, Chairperson Andre Dean D. Foman-eg, Orden V. Cayso, Michael L. Anayasan (Tournament Director) and Carther Junnary P. Badival (Asst. Tournament Director).
The results of the 2-day intensive national competition are as follows:
CADETS (Elementary):
1. Josefa Carino Elementary School Warriors – Champion (10 gold, 7 silver, 17 bronze medals);
2. Makati Elites Arnis Team – 2nd (5 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze medals);
3. Laguna Arnis Team – 3rd (4 gold, 5 silver, 8 bronze medals);
4. Urdaneta City Arnis Club – 4th (4 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze medals);
5. Itogon Maksil Arnis Team – 5th (4 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals).
JUNIORS:
1. Lao-lan Arnis Team Makati City – Champion (12 gold, 8 silver, 8 bronze medals);
2. University of Baguio Cardinals Arnis Team – 2nd (10 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze medals);
3. KALASAG Arnis Team (Kalinga Province & Tabuk City) – 3rd (5 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze medals);
4. Urdaneta City Arnis Club – 4th (5 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze medals);
5. Likha Arnis Puerto Princesa City Arnis Team – 5th (4 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze medals);
SENIORS:
1. Bulacan State University Gold Gears Arnisadors – Champion (6 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze medals);
2. Benguet State University Wild Cats – 2nd (5 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze medals);
3. Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Phoenix Arnis Team – 3rd (4 gold, 7 silver, 11 bronze medals);
4. Pasig City Arnis Cruzada – 4th (4 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medals);
5. Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Arnis Corps Squad – 5th (2 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze medals).
OVER-ALL:
1. Lao-lan Arnis Team Makati – Over-all Champion (14 gold, 10 silver, 11 bronze medals);
2. JCES Warriors – 2nd Over-all (10 gold, 7 silver, 17 bronze medals);
3. UB Arnis Team – 3rd Over-all (10 gold, 6 silver, 7 bronze medals);
4. Urdaneta City Arnis Club – 4th Over-all (9 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze medals);
5. KALASAG Arnis Team – 5th Over-all (8 gold, 4 silver, 10 bronze medals).
The national competition is an official event of the City of Baguio in celebration of the 117th founding anniversary of the city. It is Implemented by the Baguio-Benguet League of Arnis Eskrima, Kali Developers, Enthusiasts and Supporters, Inc. (BBLADES) in its 3rd consecutive year as a Recognized Tournament of the Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF).
The event has showcased the talents of Arnisador – athletes from all over the Philippines. The participants were given the opportunity to engage in a national stage outside the limited delegation to the Palarong Pambansa, Batang Pinoy and the Philippine National Games.
The theme for the 117th Baguio City Charter celebration is “Cultivating Circularity: Building an Everlasting Baguio”.
