The political war between the Marcos-Romualdez families against the Dutertes will have so many effects. As always, it will be us the people who will bear the brunt.
Government services will suffer and will become even more inefficient. Public officers’ and employees’ morale will even go lower and work output quality will become worse. Prices of basic goods and services will even be higher. . . to hit the stratosphere as things become more acrimonious.
Members of the two families will come out with so many causes couched in so many ways, but the real reason is their greed for political power. The welfare of the people will be brushed aside as they squabble. Do they really care? They do only when it serves their political interests. Which make them unfit to be leaders of society were it to achieve and maintain the common good.
How should we as individuals act in order to weather the situation’s adverse effects? The usual things– to work even harder and smarter in the conduct of our careers or businesses or other activities which make us earn for our daily bread.
But we must never forget the root cause of all this, our and the protagonists’ limited identity. We think we can live well just by thinking of our selfish interests, never mind all the rest of the universe or all of humanity. Such is being narrow minded or forgetting life is interconnected with every thing and every person or creature. That we cannot breathe unless the plants are also breathing. And we cannot eat without what Mother Earth grows or generates.
In this context should politics be looked at. Until we reach that level of mental or spiritual evolution, we just have to be smarter in the conduct of our everyday affairs. But without forgetting our universal interconnectedness. That we cannot be selfish without harming or hurting our collective and individual well-being as humans due to karma and all. **
