BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — Local entrepreneurs in the municipality came together for the Design Week Bontoc 2025 held from October 21 to November 2, 2025. Said event aims to strengthen unity, creativity, and collaboration while promoting sustainable business practices.
Mayor Franklin C. Odsey emphasized that creativity and innovation are key drivers of local economic development. He commended the participating business owners for showcasing products that reflect the cultural identity and craftsmanship of the Bontoc people, highlighting how design can bridge tradition and modern enterprise.
“We can also enter as a bridge to market your products…let us work together, so we can market our products,” he said.
Sangguniang Bayan Member Glenn D. Bacala, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Environmental Management, encouraged entrepreneurs to continuously enhance their designs and explore sustainable methods in production.
The Design Week provides not only a venue for display but also an opportunity for learning, partnership, and empowerment among small business owners, he said.
The event featured booths designed by local micro, small, and medium enterprises as part of the Booth Design Contest for arts, crafts, and food products.
Displays included locally made goods and produce that highlight the resourcefulness and creativity of the town’s business community.
Local artist Rovanie Joy Fegcan expressed gratitude to the LGU for organizing such activities citing how it helped her and other local artists.
“A heartfelt thank you to the Bontoc LGU for your unwavering support throughout the Design Week! Your efforts in promoting local artists and crafters, especially through the Bontoc Tourism posts and event coordination, truly made a big difference. We appreciate how you continue to uplift and showcase local creativity.”
“The Bontoc Tourism really helped advertise and promote our products, making it easier for people to know about the event,” she said. The social media helped immensely in her sales.
Aside from exhibits, the Design Week event organized by Bontoc LGU, also lined up interactive activities such as a Reels Video Competition and Product Packaging Design Competition, designed to help participants improve product presentation and market reach.
The LGU hopes through Design Week, more entrepreneurs will be inspired to innovate while keeping local culture and sustainability at the heart of their businesses. **JDP/VJLT-PIA-CAR, Mountain Province
