Cruelty can often slither its way into our moments of happiness. In this month of festivities, a week before the big day, one can still often see a college student with his/her id. For some, exams take place days just before Christmas, and for others, days after New Year. The path to Christmas for all of us is one of hardships and it is treacherous.
Yet, the songs of Christmas still dances on jam packed Session Road. The decorations have reached their ultimate form and the hordes of tourists have arrived to share in the cold air of December. I imagine how joyous are the feelings of young children while motorists must make a bit more effort to find joy in stand-still traffic.
Tensions rise in the streets of cold Baguio. It was always rising as the days went closer and closer to Christmas. Bumper to bumper is often how traffic is nowadays. Long weekends gave us a taste of what to expect. Yet, I’m not sure any of us can be truly prepared for the droves of tourists coming to this town.
As we all head into the holiday season, we face issues relating to the many facets of life. Students worry about exam scores and grades. Parents must find a way to pay tuition again. While some traffic enforcers attempt to solve the almost unsolvable mystery of keeping traffic in the city from becoming a permanent stand-still.
Nevertheless, the people will certainly enjoy the coming holidays no matter all the obstacles that are between them. Traffic it may be for most cities, but the traffic will be heavier when families line up to get their food on their tables. And It would seem we can enjoy Christmas without a tropical storm hanging over our heads.
December in recent years almost always attracted a storm at the wrong time. We can all be thankful that we can get drunk beside the bonfire again.
Positivity suits the attitude of Filipinos. Always finding the good moments in life and never turning the mood upside down. The Filipino face never looked good with a frown, instead we suit the expression of a wide smile. Showing off that yellow imperfect teeth but oozing off an aura of happiness.
A pessimistic attitude will never be satisfied, no matter all the happiness in front of it. We are all blessed to experience Christmas once more, it is already a wonderful gift to be alive.
A positive attitude in life can help us see all the gifts of life, for our blessings are many, handed down to us since the beginning. A life with appreciation will always be content with all the things handed down.
It won’t be long again until the “new year” “new me” movement. What more a better start to take on a new year than being positive about it.
