Whether or not you find the title of this piece interesting, we should learn from it.
There is an identified problem of the Russians and so the appropriate remedy was found. Hence, the ministry. You will not just be given enough money for your first date, you will also be entitled to a good budget for your honeymoon. And there will be ample funds for your young family.
The idea is to make babies for a problem considered an emergency. To have enough soldiers for the Russia-Ukraine war. The implication is the war will not be short-lived. The Russians started it with the long haul in mind. As Putin reportedly said, “this is a global war.” Its gloves are off, ready to put on metal knuckles.
For the whole plan, a problem was identified. And so the solution was arrived at. And it will be implemented.
Some squirm at the thought. It is like raising chicken ala assembly line. In 29 days, they are big enough to be served on your plates at Jollibee or McDonald’s.
So in no time, there will be new Russian babies to become soldiers to be fed into the meat grinder, Putin’s global war.
How about its western opponents? Oh, they are into a lot of discussions. Then they will take an eternity to come up with effective solutions. Just like the issue on whether or not to allow Ukraine to use American and British long-range missiles to hit Russia.
Finally, after more than two years, President Biden said yes, OK, with some constraints. A case of too little, too late.
Back to the Philippines. The country’s main problem has long been identified—POVERTY. Its main causes have also long been identified. Inequitable distribution of wealth and population explosion. You may call it being simplistic, but we cannot even implement simplistic measures to achieve a small dent towards solving the matter.
For almost a century, we are still debating the matter. When will we start implementing anything? Perhaps we need a few more lifetimes of debating like legislative investigations before we can get to the implementation stage.
Admittedly, a dictator cannot just sign a document and an effective birth control measure will be implemented. For that is not our way. We have to engage first in interminable debates—and interminable it sill remains.
How about the inequitable distribution of our great national wealth and opportunities? We have, for instance, come up with land reform. We also have the government cooperative agency. All we have, however, are just the laws. Their implementation to achieve their objectives is almost zero. We can only say we were able to pay to these some lip service. Again, we need more debates or discussions.
At the end of the day, we just have too much laws and theoretical plans. For that we certainly do not need a Ministry of Sex. What we need is a Ministry to End Debates. With that. Perhaps we can start some implementation. BUT, wait . . . . . . Don’t we need first to debate and discuss about that?**
