BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — The economy of Mountain Province grew by 4.6 percent in 2025, improving from the 3.5 percent growth recorded in 2024, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
PSA-Mountain Province Chief Statistical Specialist Jerry G. Santos presented the province’s economic performance during the 2025 Provincial Product Accounts Dissemination Forum held on September 29, 2026, at Myrna’s Hotel in Bontoc.
The province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached P17.18 billion in 2025, up from P16.42 billion in 2024.
Among the major contributors to the provincial economy were wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF); public administration and defense; education and construction.
The services sector remained the largest component of the provincial economy, accounting for P11.86 billion of the total GDP. It contributed 3.2 percentage points to the province’s overall economic growth in 2025.
The sector includes education; human health and social work activities; public administration and defense and compulsory social security; wholesale and retail trade, and other service-related activities.
Meanwhile, the industry sector accounted for P3.10 billion of the provincial economy, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing contributed P2.22 billion.
Mountain Province also recorded an increase in per capita GDP, which measures the province’s economic output relative to its population. Per capita GDP rose to P107,028 in 2025, representing a 4.3 percent increase from the previous year.
Among the seven provincial and highly urbanized city economies in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Mountain Province ranked fifth in terms of GDP growth rate in 2025 with its 4.6% expansion.
Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Daniel Likigan, represented by Lorna A. Eslao, also shared the governance framework and strategic direction of Mountain Province anchored in the “Barangay Muna” project.
