BAUKO, Mountain Province, Oct. 9 (PIA) — Mountain Province will soon operate its own COVID testing laboratory at the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH) here.
Congressman Maximo Dalog Jr., LHMRH Medical Center Chief Eduardo Calpito and Rev. Fr. Jaefkey Dulawan led the blessing and inauguration of the molecular laboratory and a new real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT -PCR) machine last October 5.
Dalog praised Calpito and the LHMRH personnel for their efforts in having a molecular lab in the province, and he hopes that the licensing of the facility be approved as soon as possible for it to become operational.
Department of Health-Cordillera Regional Director Ruby Constantino during the Kapihan sa Baguio media forum on Wednesday, said the LHMRH has asked the DOH Central office for the training of personnel who will be assigned in the molecular laboratory. The lab is seen to operate by end of November.
Meanwhile, Constantino said the Benguet General Hospital that inaugurated recently its own molecular laboratory is in the process of acquiring its new RT- PCR and automated extractor machines thru Benguet Caretaker Cong. Eric Go Yap.
BeGH personnel who will man the lab have already been trained at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center(BGHMC).
Constantino hopes that the operation of the two molecular laboratories soon would help decongest the COVID19 testing being conducted at the BGHMC, the lone government molecular testing lab in the region at present.** JDP/RMC- PIA-CAR
