Bontoc, Mountain Province– The Mountain Province Local Government Unit (MPLGU) is expected to receive the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in cognizance of its significant performance and commendable service delivery during the national awarding ceremony to be held at the Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila on November 25, 2017. MPLGU emerged as one of the two national SGLG passers in CAR, alongside Kalinga province, under the Provincial Government category.
Also, among the 21 Municipal Government SGLG national passers from CAR are the municipal local government units of Bauko, Bontoc and Paracelis in Mountain Province.
“All our efforts have paid off. The Provincial Government cannot claim full credit for our passing the SGLG national assessment. This success is due to the concerted efforts of all stakeholders which paved the way for us hurdling the rungs towards the much coveted SGLG,” Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. said.
The MPLGU is among the 400+ local governments that passed the SGLG national assessment; consequently, qualifying for the national awards bracket. Per DILG assessment, the Provincial Government of Mountain Province passed all the minimum parameters of the SGLG’s core components, namely: (1) Financial Administration; (2) Social Protection; (3) Disaster Preparedness; (4) Peace and Order. Moreover, the Provincial Government also met the measures for the following essential areas: (1) Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; (2) Tourism, Culture and the Arts; and (3) Environment Management.
This year, the 4+1 assessment criteria was followed where LGUs must pass the four core areas and at least one essential area. This is the scaled-up version of the 3+1 assessment criteria (i.e., three core assessment areas – Good Financial Housekeeping, Social protection and Disaster Preparedness and at least one from the essential assessment areas – Business Friendliness and competitiveness; Peace and Order and Environmental Protection) that has been previously used.
Noteworthy is that Mountain Province LGU has been a consistent SGLG awardee since 2011. Last year, Mountain Province LGU was conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance during the 2016 SGLG and 2015 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) National Awarding Ceremony held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Pasay City on October 27, 2016.
Also, MPLGU has been awarded the Bronze Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2011 and the Silver Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2012. It has also been awarded the Seal of Good Financial housekeeping in March 2015. // Mountain Province-Provincial Information Office **MP-PIO
