BAUKO, Mountain Province (PIA) — The Mountain Province State University (MPSU) launched the first Coffee Museum and Entrepreneurship Training Center in the province at the MPSU Coffee Center in Barangay Ba-ang, Bauko, Mountain Province.
MPSU President Edgar G. Cue said the facility will serve as a platform for capacity building, entrepreneurship, tourism, and sustainable development. It aims to strengthen the local coffee industry by providing education, skills training, and awareness of the entire coffee process, from bean to cup.
“More than a repository of history, this museum is also a living classroom. This will be a space for learning, research, innovation, and extension. It will serve as a platform for capacity-building, entrepreneurship, tourism, and sustainable development, benefiting not only our students but also our partner communities,” Cue shared.
He emphasized that the initiative will benefit students and partner agencies while supporting the needs of local coffee farmers and stakeholders.
Epiphania B. Magwilang, Vice President for Research, shared that the training center focuses on skills development, particularly in coffee processing and marketing, while the museum documents and preserves the early stages of MPSU’s coffee initiatives.
It is designed to serve local farmers, researchers, students, and community members interested in coffee production, processing, and marketing. Through hands-on learning and guided training, the center supports efforts to improve coffee quality, increase productivity, and create livelihood opportunities within the province.
The launch concluded with a guided tour of the facility, where participants visited the coffee plantation, depulping machine, and roasting room. The tour enabled guests to observe the various stages of coffee production and gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved.
The activity was attended by Atty. Cyphrine Dalog-Duclan, Rolando Bragado representing Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Mabel F. Banggawan, officials from the local government unit of Bauko, local media, and MPSU officials and employees. **JDP/VJLT – PIA-CAR, Mountain Province
