BAGUIO CITY– The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is inviting stakeholders in the Cordillera to submit project proposals that will boost the arts and culture in the region.
NCCA officials together with local artists and former NCCA grantees guested in the “Kapihan sa Baguio” forum on Tuesday to urge various individuals and groups throughout the region to send their arts and cultural project proposals for possible funding by the NCCA in line with its mandate of preserving, developing and promoting Philippine arts and culture.
Other guests included Film Development Council of the Philippines Chairperson Liza Dino, International Delphic Council President Divina Bautista, University of Baguio President Dhana Kerina Rodas, NCCA Eligibility, Grants and Processing Unit head Chris Lucindo, and National Committee member on Dance Rebecca Nulud and National Committee member on Music Benicio Sokong.
According to the NCCA, the 2017 Call for Project Proposals will truly advance the socioeconomic agenda of the Duterte Administration– the promotion of science, technology and creative arts “to enhance innovation and creative capacity towards self-sustaining inclusive development”.
NCCA Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts Section head Ferdinand Isleta said that the NCCA is looking to build a partnership and promote a strong sense of nationhood and pride of being Filipino and this is a good avenue with the support of stakeholders.
For 2017, NCCA is providing venues for the different regions to articulate their local culture and development concerns which the different programs and projects shall address.
Isleta said that everyone is welcome to send grant proposals to the NCCA- be it individuals, indigenous peoples’ groups, LGUs, civil society organizations, government agencies, state universities and colleges, and public schools and avail of the more than P30 million fund for these.
Dino also called on local film makers and other artists to grab the opportunity being given by the government to help the local film and artists’ industry in the Cordillera region and the country.
The NCCA has set two categories of proposals. Category A includes projects which have been conceptualized during the various levels of planning workshops by its various national committees following the identified needs of the locality and where specific outputs and deliverables had been defined. Projects in this category will have three or more component activities. Proponents interested to implement projects under this category may submit a letter of intent.
On the other hand, Category B calls for project proposals conceptualized by proponents with due consideration to the important concerns cited in the project brief and aligned with the identified NCCA priorities and outcomes. Interested proponents may submit a project proposal.
Projects under the 2017 Call for Proposals are intended to be implemented in various sites all over the country. The distribution of the proposed projects are: Luzon with 51 project sites, Visayas with 91 project sites, Mindanao with 98 project sites and NCR with 31 project sites.
Project briefs as well as guidelines and requirements may be accessed via the NCCA website, www.ncca.gov.ph.
Deadline of submissions of letters of intent and proposals is on September 30, 2016 to the Planning, Policy Formulation and Programming Division (PPFPD) headed by Bernan Corpuz at Room 5-A, 5th Floor, NCCA Building, 633 General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila.
