BAGUIO CITY, June 2 — The National Food Authority (NFA) in Baguio is now accepting cash donations for the victims of the terrorism activities in Marawi and other atrocities in Mindanao.
NFA Benguet Provincial Manager Cecilia Concubierta said that “Oplan Marawi” was launched in the national office of NFA aimed at collecting cash donations only.
“This is initiated by our top management headed by our administrator Jason Aquino,” Concubierta said.
She said that only cash donations will be received for easier and more convenient delivery.
“If we accept clothing, vegetables and or foods packs, we need to hire or get someone to deliver it for us. The travel delivering the goods is also very long that is why we find it very unpractical,” she explained.
Concubierta said that NFA employees have already given their donations which were properly accounted for and acknowledged, and the same treatment will be given to every peso donated through them.
Aside from listing down the names of donors, she said they will also be sending them letters from the direct beneficiary as proof that their donations were really given to the victims.
“We have our own operation center in Marawi City that operates solely to administer the giving of the cash donations to the victims,” she said.
Concubierta noted that cash donations are only accepted in their office located in Loakan Baguio city.
“We encourage our donors to visit our office for proper accounting and to be transparent with them. Their names and address are very important to us not only for proper acknowledgement but also if they want to receive letters from the beneficiaries,” she said.
She added that as long as the conflict in Mindanao is not resolved, they will continue to accept donations to help the victims recover from their loss.
“We pray that the conflict in Mindanao will come to an end the soonest so that our kababayans there can soon go back to their normal life,” Concubierta said. **Dionisio Dennis Jr./PNA)
