There will still be no Lang-ay Festival this year but the commemoration of the 54th Foundation Day of the province will go on, albeit with a simple program on April 7, 2021.
This was learned after the meeting of the ADHOC Committee formed to tackle the concerns of the supposedly double event for the province.
The Lang-ay festival was also cancelled last year at the height of the pandemic that until now is a social and medical menace to the province and people, and to the whole country.
Carmencita Magalong, the new Provincial Administrator of the province, said that “we cannot celebrate the Lang-ay with fanfare because of this pandemic”.
The Committee then decided to forego with Lang-ay and conduct a simple program to commemorate the foundation of the province.
On April 7, 2021, the program will start early as the tribute to the past governors of the province who already passed on with the lighting of candles at the Governor Memorial corner of the provincial plaza.
Then a mass will be conducted to thank the Almighty for the blessings the past years and to seek good fortune for the coming years for the province.
The program proper will highlight the physical presence and participation of the heads of offices of the provincial government, members of the Provincial Board, Vice Governor Francis Tauli and Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr.
Congressman Maximo Dalog will also be invited along with Philippine National Police Provincial Director Ruben Andiso as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The municipal mayors, the employees and the general public are all invited to watch the program live on face book and other social media platforms.
As the province is on General Community Quarantine (GCQ), mass gathering is prohibited and the proceedings will have to be done virtual.
Meanwhile, a history book dubbed Mountain Province: Then and Now being written by a Committee formed for the purpose will be launched during the occasion.
Atty. Michael Patting, Executive Assistant to the Governor, referred to the book in the making as a sequel and updating of the New Mountain Province book published during the time of the late Governor Maximo Dalog.
The Committee will conduct another meeting on March 25, 2021 to finalize the activities during the event.** Roger Sacyaten
