A great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city had always been provided for by our home. When tranquility can provide comfort to a weary body and peace to the tired mind. Although not too distant from society to be called a country side, it is not too cramped with people to be classed as a town.
The soft sounds of insects respect the ears more than all the vehicles in the city. And time moves just
a bit slower. Around our home, apart from the trees that shade us from the blistering sun, scattered are pieces of relics in the midst of their battle against time. For as long as I could remember these rusty old cars stood like guards since I was in elementary. The same ones would always be waiting at home. Still and compact as they stand their ground. For as long as now, they have waited patiently for their time. A time to ride the wind and race across the roads. That time has sadly not come yet. So for now, they remain still, biding their time when they would roar and run free.
It is always pleasing to look at them, not only for their designs but their history. I have experienced so much since my elementary days, yet they have been stuck in time. Within all of us are relics that have yet to run free. Like rusty cars they dream to move forward towards the distant future.
A place like school can give us keys to our gifts. And life will provide us a challenge into igniting the engine.
To remain stagnant would wear down the parts, wait too long and they will need repairing. A destroyed confidence will take time to rebuild. Just like our muscles that revert to where they were before should they not be trained and taken care of.
When one gets to know other people, you can eventually see their gifts that shine so brightly. Some will be shown boldly in front of others, while some are harder to uncover but shimmers just as sparkly.
Should they be taken care of, maintained, improved and repaired, then we can go to places we have never even imagined before. Witness a view that leaves us breathless, and experience the parts of life that were unknown before.
To always strive towards better things, and be content with what we have been blessed can be a hard balance to maintain. I don’t believe we were made to be stationary and alone. With our own cars should we drive forward. And if we break down in the middle of the road, when talent is not enough to get us over the line, then with our own two feet, along with perseverance will we finish.**
