BANGUED, Abra. Fisherfolk borrowers in select towns of Abra province were set to receive their loans after signing the Memoranda of Agreement recently.
It has been noted that 477 fisherfolk in the province had qualified to avail of the Expanded SURE-Aid and Recovery Project or SURE COVID-19 after a series of validation, but only 41 fisherfolk were initially facilitated due to public health protocols.
Through the ESURE loan, each fisherfolk availed of P25,000.00 with zero-interest, no collateral, and payable in 10 years. Only the service fee and documentary stamp tax will be deducted from the principal amount. Thus, the total net proceeds from the loans will be credited to respective borrower’s LBP accounts after the signing of Memorandum of Agreement at the bureau’s provincial fisheries office here.
This is a joint initiative of the Department of Agriculture, through the Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (DA-ACPC), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank).
This effort is also a component of the DA’s Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Kontra Covid-19 (ALPAS SA COVID-19) Program under Republic Act No.11469 also known as the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
