AGUINALDO, Ifugao, Aug. 31 (PIA) – – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Ifugao Chapter and municipal government here have inked a memorandum of agreement for the effective implementation of the Blood Samaritan Program (BSP) for the benefit of indigent patients in the municipality.
The BSP aims mainly to assist indigent patients needing blood transfusion. The PRC seeks kind-hearted individuals/groups who are willing to give financial donations to support the blood needs of indigents. The donated money will cover the payment of blood processing fees of legitimate indigent patients.
The MOA states that PRC – Ifugao Chapter operates a network of blood service facilities with capabilities to make blood readily available to patients in need and prioritize issuance of blood to members, their dependents and referrals while LGU-Aguinaldo will appropriate funds for the BSP.
Funds shall be used for indigent patients who are bonafide residents of the municipality to cover blood processing fees only of the PRC on a first-come, first-served basis. Both parties also shall have mutual coordination in facilitating financial assistance among indigent patients.
Earlier, the PRC – Ifugao Chapter and LGU – Alfonso Lista had partnered through a Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) for the delivery of humanitarian services.
Engineer Carmelita Buyuccan, board director of PRC Ifugao and Mayor Glenn Prudenciano signed the MOP last week for the proper collection, storage, and utilization of blood donated by the people of Alfonso Lista through the LGU.
The MOP further stated that the LGU in partnership with PRC Ifugao Chapter will organize and conduct bloodletting activities and deposit to the chapter’s blood bank for the consumption of all patients referred by the LGU needing blood transfusion.** PIA Ifugao
