ALFONSO LISTA, IFUGAO — A Php 1.3-billion pump irrigation system will be constructed in Alfonso Lista town in this province to irrigate agricultural fields in the villages of Sto. Domingo, Calupaan, Namnama and Namillangan..
Along with Ifugao Rep. Solomon Chungalao, Governor Jerry Dalipog and Vice Governor Glenn Prudenciano attended the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Alfonso Lista Pump Irrigation Project (ALPIP) at Barangay Namillangan.
The pump irrigation project consists of pumps, pump housing trans-basin tunnels, diversion canals, irrigation facilities and other appurtenant structures. It will draw water from the Magat River Integrated Irrigation System to irrigate 2,300 hectares of prime farm land in the four villages.
“We are very grateful to the national government, particularly the National Irrigation Administration for funding the comprehensive system master plan. This is indeed a major infrastructure project in Ifugao,” Prudenciano told the ZigZag Weekly.
During the groundbreaking rites, contract signing of the project took place.
Among those in attendance were Board Members Orlando Addug, Clemente Bongtiwon, Aezel Dumangeng and Noli Maguiwe , Mayors Edralin Alipio of Alfonso Lista, Jimmy Padchanan Jr. of Mayoyao and Gaspar Chilagan of Aguinaldo, Vice Mayor Agapito Dominguez Jr. of this town and PAENRO head Domingo Mariano.
“Farmers are happy with the assistance of the NIA, Congressman Chungalao, Governor Dalipog and Vice Governor Prudenciano,” Sto. Domingo Punong Barangay Jovito Valenzuela said.
The ALPIP is considered an important component of the Dalipog administration’s effort to improve the agriculture sector. ** Anthony A. Araos
