BAGUIO COPS NAB PRO-CAR’S THIRD TOP MOST WANTED PERSON
The BAGUIO’s FINEST nabbed a 35-year old laborer in Isabela on October 15, 2024, following a warrant of arrest for two counts of violation of Republic Act 11930, also known as “Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act”; and Statutory Rape.
The accused is tagged as the third Top Most Wanted Person (TMWP) in the Police Regional Office- Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR), at the same time third in the City Level, and 7thin the Station Level.
According to the reports submitted to PCOL RUEL D TAGEL, BCPO City Director, the incident started in May 2024 but was only reported to the authorities in July, after the accused threatened to distribute explicit photos and videos of the minor. Currently, the minor is referred for counselling to assist the individual to find healthy ways to cope with the after-effects of the traumatic incident.
This case marks the first reported violation of RA 11930 in Baguio after it repealed RA 9775 (Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009). The new law significantly expands the scope of prohibited acts and provides stricter penalties on offenders. It also enhances the mechanisms for the protection and recovery of child victims.
As BAGUIO’s FINEST continues to uphold its commitment to enforcing the law, the BCPO urges the public to be partners in a proactive fight against criminality. Parents, educators, and the community at large are encouraged to closely monitor and report suspicious activities that may endanger the safety and well-being of our children.**
