Former village chief busted in Kalinga
A former barangay captain is now facing multiple charges for Vifolation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines after the search warrants implemented in his residence yielded illegal drugs, illegal logs, and various ammunition.
According to the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO ASPERO BAZAR, the arrested suspect was identified as Reynold Sagmayan Gongob, 47 and a resident of Brgy. Wagud, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
According to the same report, while implementing the search warrants in his residence, the operatives discovered nine (9) plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 15 grams with a standard drug price (SDP) of Php 102,000.00.
Further, the operatives also discovered various ammunition, blasting caps, and military accessories.
Also, two (2) units of Chainsaw; flitches of Narra, Molave, Acacia, and Tapol with total board feet of 946.79 amounting to Php 106,408.40 were recovered by the operatives.
Inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Mr. Reynaldo Gonzalo, DOJ Representative; Kagawad Eugene Awingan & Kagawad Edita A. Lutoc of Barangay Wagud, Pinukpuk; and Janette Alagao, Media Representative.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Kalinga PPO for documentation and proper disposition.
4 minors arrested for possession of illegal drugs
Four minors were arrested after being caught in possession of illegal drugs in Baguio City on August 16, 2022.
According to the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO ASPERO BAZAR, the arrested minors were identified as a 17-year-old, two 16-year-old, and a 15-year-old, all males..
According to the same report, police officers of the BCPO Tourist Police Unit (TPU) were conducting a mobile patrol when they saw a commotion of individuals prompting them to respond to the incident.
As a result of their response, four individuals involved in the commotion were arrested while the others scampered in different directions.
While conducting a body search of the minors, the police officers recovered three (3) zip-lock plastics and two (2) plastic sachets containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with a total weight of more or less 5 grams and a standard drug price (SDP) of Php 600.00.
Inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Pros. Sigrid Lacwasan-Canawil, DOJ Representative; Kagawad Ramon Teehemkee of Barangay Burnham-Legarda; and Mr. Dionisio Dennis, Media Representative.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of BCPO Abanao Police Station (PS7) for documentation and proper disposition while charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. **
