Cops eradicate P15.6M in Kalinga
Police Regional Office Cordillera eradicated P15.6 million worth of marijuana plants in Kalinga and arrested two drug pushers in Benguet.
In the four days operation in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, the combined operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office, PDEA-CAR and members of the 503rd IB, PA were able to uproot 28,000 fully grown MJ plants and 112,000 MJ seedlings planted in a total land area of 1,100 square meters. Moreover, 40 Kilograms of marijuana stalks, and 2 kilograms of MJ hashish were also discovered. Said marijuana plants and discovered stalks and hashish have a total dangerous drug board value of Php15,580,000.00.
Further, two drug pushers were arrested in a buy-bust operation at Slaughter Compound, Tabio, Mankayan, Benguet in the early morning of February 13, 2018, who were identified as Ianne Roy Alintog Yalong, 24, a resident of Labaan, Tabio, Mankayan, Benguet and Jomel Jimenez Padiclas, 23, a resident of Guinaoang, Mankayan Benguet. Both were unemployed.
During the operation, five (5) pieces of plastic sachets with a residue of suspected shabu, eight (8) pieces of heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia were seized from their possession.
Yalong and Padiclas together with the seized items are now under the custody of Mankayan MPS for proper documentation. The appropriate cases were filed against them in court.
Death due to electrocution
On February 11, 2018 at around 12:20 PM, an electrocution transpired at Ifugao State University (IFSU), Alfonso Lista, Ifugao where the victim was identified as Denmark Batikil Lalpu-ot, 33, single, and a native of Kapacnaan, Oyao, Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.
Investigation disclosed that the victim finished washing his clothes, together with his board mates Broderick Faingason Sallaya and Gomez Nabbod Pok-uh, 21, both student of same university. The incident happened while the victim was trying to tie a clothesline between two posts, not knowing that one of the posts was live. Victim was rushed by the employees of said university to Potia District Hospital, however, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician Dr Judith Olay- Alacan.
Shooting incident
At around 6:45 PM of February 12, 2018, personnel of Bulanao Police Sub Station, Tabuk City responded to a reported shooting incident that transpired in front of the Gangsa Restobar at Purok 1, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial investigation disclosed that a Mitsubishi Fuso truck bearing plate number PHX 933, driven by Ruben Retiquez Baccayo, 36 years old, married, resident of Ubbog, Magsaysay, Tabuk City, Kalinga and his helper Jessie Cadelinia Lucero, 28 years old, married, and a resident of Santa Ana, Cagayan, was at a stand still near the road intersection when an unidentified suspect opened fire towards it hitting its front windshield. Three spent shells for caliber .45 and two deformed slugs for caliber .45 were recovered at the crime scene. Personnel of Tabuk CPS are still conducting pursuit operations for the arrest of the suspect. The case is under investigation.
PROCOR nabs 16 individuals in anti-gambling operations
Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) arrested a total of 16 individuals during intensified operations against illegal activities in the Cordillera region since January to February 11, 2018.
In five separate anti-illegal gambling operations, a total of Php6,419.5 worth of cash bets as well as gambling paraphernalia were seized from 16 arrested offenders.
In the most recent operation conducted in the afternoon of February 11, 2018, six gamblers namely: Mylene M. Cerezo, 18, native of Lingayen Pangasinan; Diana M Cabading, 51, native of Mabilbila Sur, Santa, Ilocos Sur; Babylyn R Ramos, 29, native of Rosario La Union; Lyzette C Milanes, 25, native of Mangaldan Pangasinan; Annie Marie P Nonan, 49; and Cesar M Padua, 51 construction worker and native of Aringay, La Union were arrested in the act of playing bingo games at Purok 1 Middle Rock Quary, Baguio City. Bingo chips, cards and assorted coins of undetermined amount were confiscated during the operation.
In Abra, two gambling operators were arrested while operating a drop ball game at Brgy. Poblacion, San Isidro, Abra on the night of February 5, 2018. Arrested suspects were identified as Freddie Bernardo Dela Rosa, 25, farmer, Samuel Campos Esguerra, 22, both residents of Brgy. Villa-Rey, Piat, Cagayan. Confiscated from their possession were gambling paraphernalia and bet money amounting to Php850.00 in different denominations.
Above arrested suspects and other 8 persons who were caught during other operations and confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units for documentation and disposition. Cases for Violation of P.D. 1602, also known as Illegal Gambling, were filed against them in court.**
