Gas poisoning
On July 31, 2017 between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, an alleged incident of gas poisoning transpired in Mill Site, Gumatdang, Itogon, Benguet where the victims were identified as Robert Binay-an Gorteza, 28, male, single, a native of Parparya, Bagulin, La Union; and Anthony Gorteza Salas, 30 years old, male, single, residents of Mill Site, Gumatdang, Itogon,Benguet.
At that time Robert Gorteza went inside the tunnel owned by him to get his mining equipment. He failed to come out for lunch which prompted his cousin Anthony Salas to follow to check on him but he too never returned. Suspecting that the duo were trapped, Peter Gorteza Salas, brother of one of the victims, followed them inside but along the way, he smelled a foul odor which he presumed to be gas. He called for help and they used a blower to supply oxygen inside where they found the lifeless victims.
RA 10591 and direct assault
On August 2, 2017 at 4:55 AM in Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City, a case for violation of RA 10591 and direct assault transpired against Geremy Wahayan Tarapen, 25, single, construction worker, and a resident of Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the suspect went inside the Baguio Country Sounds and suddenly brought out a caliber 45 pistol which he pointed upward and fired four times. During the incident, PO3 Joemer Altiga and PO3 Julius Liis wearing civilian clothes were passing by the area and they witnessed the incident. When they accosted the suspect, however, identifying themselves as police officers he fired three times towards PO3 Altiga but missed until his gun ran out of ammunition. The suspect then struck the firearm on PO3 Altiga causing injuries on his forehead. A POSD member on duty assisted the police officers in apprehending the suspect and bringing him to Station 2, Baguio CPO for documentation and investigation.
Confiscated from the suspect were a caliber 45 (Taurus) with serial number NAP 80860, two magazines, eight pieces live ammunition, and four empty shells for said caliber. Confiscated items were turned over to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office for ballistic examination.
Rape
On August 2, 2017, 11:45 AM at KMS Bus Lines terminal, Otek St, Rizal Park, Baguio City, joint personnel of CIU-BCPO, RIU-14, RID-COR, PIB-Benguet PPO, ISOD-IG, and Hungduan MPS, Ifugao PPO arrested Bernard Bitaol Wacoy, 44, married, small scale miner, and a resident of Baang, Hungduan, Ifugao, by virtue of a warrant issued by Hon. Judge Ester Piscoso-Flor, RTC Br 34, Banaue, Ifugao for a case of rape docketed as CC No. 247 with no bail recommended. Subject person has a monetary reward of Phjp90,000.00 under DILG MC No. 2012-47.
Alleged drowning
On August 3, 2017, at about 6:30 AM, Geffery P. Martin, 34, married, farmer, and a resident of Ahin, Tinoc, Ifugao, informed Tinoc MPS that his nephew Jaypee Martin Mat-an, 6, and a resident of Ahin, Tinoc, Ifugao was missing.
Investigation disclosed that at about 12:00 NN to 1:00 PM of August 2, 2017, Jaypee and his three companions went to the river at Ahin, Tinoc, Ifugao to take a bath. The victim and his companions stood at a big stone when suddenly he slipped and fell on the running water, his companions tried to rescue him by reaching his hand but he was dragged away by the water current. His companions called for help and rescuers followed the river and tried to locate the victim but to no avail. Progress report will follow.
Vehicular self accident resulting in death
On August 3, 2017 at about 3:30 PM personnel of Alfonso Lista MPS together with MDRRMO, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao responded to a vehicular traffic accident that transpired along the National Road of San Juan, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao. A southbound Red Rouser Kawasaki 135 motorcycle (AF 8446) driven by Rodrigo Barbero y Salvador, 50, married, laborer and a resident of Posnaan, Aguinaldo, Ifugao bumped the parapet of said road.
Investigation conducted shows that said driver was navigating the highway when he suddenly swerved into the parapet and skidded for more or less twenty (20) meters and the driver fell into an irrigation. As a result, the driver sustained head injuries and was rescued by his companions who were following him. He was rushed to Potia District Hospital, Sta. Maria, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Shooting incident
On August 3, 2017at about 3:30 PM, Lagayan MPS received a text message and a call from a concerned citizen informing that there is a shooting incident at Pulot National High School, Brgy Pulot, Lagayan, Abra. Upon receipt of the information, personnel of Lagayan MPS immediately proceeded to the site to verify said incident.
Investigation disclosed that Patrick Donato Aquino, 17, and Brix Aquino Donato, 16, both residents of Barangay Pulot, Lagayan, Abra allegedly fired a gun at the victims identified as Fortunato Sindon Rodriguez, 32, JP Agapito Bersamira, 30, Jackiemar Bersamira Escalante, 30 and Rowel Santua Escalante 29, all residents of Barangay Pulot, Lagayan, Abra. Alleged suspects fled to an unknown direction and are now subject of a manhunt operation. Personnel of Lagayan MPS processed the crime scene and were able to collect 1 fired cartridge case of Caliber .9mm and 3 cartridge cases of 5.56 mm ammunition. Case is under investigation and progress report to follow.**
