Shooting incident
On August 15, 2017 at around 9:30 PM, a shooting incident transpired in front of the Town’s Pizza at Corner Legarda and Cariño Street, Baguio City. The victim was identified as Alexander Estimo Dizon, 46 years old, married, and a resident of Bangar, La Union who was shot by a still unidentified lone gunman.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center by Herbert Panlican Corre for medical treatment. He was directly brought to the Operating Room due to a gunshot wound he sustained at the back of his neck. Operation is still being conducted by PS7, BCPO for the arrest of the suspect.
Drowning incident
On August 14, 2017 at 4:30 PM, a drowning incident transpired at Lower Agno River, Eenat, Suyo, Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet where the victim was identified as Jefferson Cabson Nangis, 26, single, and a resident of Sito Petican, Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet.
Investigation disclosed that the victim together with his cousin and eight others were transferring river sand through a tram line to the other side of the river when the victim tied a rope around his hip with the tram line and began crossing the river but was pulled by the strong current and eventually drowned. The lifeless body of the victim was retrieved by his co-workers and brought to his residence.
Recovered abandoned MC
Please be informed that at about 10:00 AM of August 16, 2017, personnel of Sagada MPS while conducting foot patrol along Sitio Batalao, Antadao, Sagada, Mountain Province recovered an abandoned motorcycle covered with dried leaves at a bushy area. It was described as a Rusi 150 with plate number AU-20764, engine number RF162FMJGY500034 and chassis number RFYPCKLO4GY500034.
The police tried to locate the owner of the said motorcycle at the nearby residential area but got negative results. The motorcycle was brought to Sagada MPS for verification and proper disposition.
Qualified theft
A case of qualified theft transpired on August 14, 2017 between 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM in Bokig, Paoay, Atok, Benguet as complained by Cecilia Picart Esling, 25 years old, married, farmer, and a resident of Bokig, Paoay, Atok, Benguet. The alleged suspect was identified as Jeremiah Orchehon, 18 years old, single, and stay-in laborer of the complainant.
Investigation conducted disclosed that at around 1:30 PM of August 14, 2017, the complainant was preparing for a trip to purchase farm supplies discovered that their money amounting to Php27,000.00 she placed in the pocket of the pants of her husband was missing. She immediately went to the farm and looked for their stay-in worker Jeremiah Orchehon but the latter was not around. The following day August 15, 2017, the spouses went to search for Jeremiah in Monglo, Sablan, Benguet but his aunt averred that she saw Jeremiah at the computer shop but he did not go home. Case is for filling.
Two more pushers fall in buy-bust operation
Two drug pushers, one of whom is a minor were arrested in successive buy-bust operations on August 16, 2017.
In the afternoon of said date, a 17 year old construction worker, native of Talisay, Davao and was staying at East Quirino Hill Barangay, Baguio City was taken into custody after he was caught in a buy-bust operation at the jeepney staging area of Middle Quirino Hill Barangay, Baguio City. Confiscated from him were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money amounting to Php500.00 and a cellular phone.
In another operation, a suspect identified as Daryl Buyawe Dominguez, 28, a native of Baang, Bauko, Mtn. Province and presently residing at Boted, Tawang, La Trinidad, Benguet fell in the hands of the operatives after he handed a sachet of illegal drugs to one of the police operatives who was the poseur-buyer in front of the Marosan’s Restaurant Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet in the afternoon of the same day.
Confiscated from his possession were three (3) heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one (1) disposable lighter, two (2) electrical tape, one (1) Black Samsung keypad cellphone, one (1) double mint container, cash money amounting to Php650.00 and buy bust money amounting to Php1,000.00.
Arrested minor was turned-over to the Social Development Center, Irisan, Baguio City for proper disposition while Dominguez is now under the custody of the concerned operating unit and the appropriate charge was filed against him in court.
Robbery w/ homicide
On August 18, 2017 at about 12:45 AM-1:00 AM at Mulberry Alley, Km.4 Asin Road, Baguio City, Angel Umali Sarmiento, legal age, married, residing in Pines Park, La Trinidad, Benguet and a driver of a taxi described as Kia taxi bearing plate number AYT-933 with trade name “Jane-Niña taxi” was robbed and stabbed to death by still unidentified suspects.
From an interview conducted with Mr. Elmer De Guzman a resident of No. 331 Mulberry Alley Km. 3 Asin Road, Baguio City it was gathered that while he was at their residence he heard a vehicle’s horn and loud voices emanating from the road that prompted him to peep through their window and saw a taxi parked beside the road and noticed a commotion inside it. He shouted for help from their neighbors which caused the unidentified suspects to flee on foot towards the dumpsite area.
Responding personnel of PS9 and MPU conducted inspection at the crime scene wherein the victim was found sprawled on the ground with a pool of blood beside him. Investigation is still ongoing.**
