Robbery with force upon things
Between 9:30 PM of December 20, 2017 and 8:00 AM of December 21, 2017 and between 9:00 PM of December 22, 2017 and 1:00 AM of December 23, 2017, a case of robbery with force upon things tranpired at Dangwa Square, Km 6, Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet particularly inside Jones Barbershop and Lucky Seven Internet Café, respectively. The incident was reported to La Trinidad MPS at about 5:30 PM of December 23, 2017 by Melaret Atiwen Garcia, 37, married, office staff of Dangwa Square Enterprises, native of Kapangan, Benguet and a resident of Dangwa Compound, Cruz, La Trinidad, Benguet. The victims were identified as Jones K. Feliciano, 65, married, owner of Jones Barber Shop, native of Besao, Mtn. Province and a resident of FC-388 Central Balili, La Trinidad Benguet, and Phyrlyne Kinis Pareja, 48, owner/proprietor of Lucky Seven, native of Bakun, Benguet and a resident of OD-279-A Banig, Tawang La Trinidad Benguet. The arrested suspect was identified as Alexis dela Marquez Casano, 18, single, stay-in janitor at Dangwa Square, Km 6, Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet and a native of Calamba, Laguna.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect climbed a water tank that was installed near the window of Jones Barber Shop and then forcibly destroyed the locking mechanism of the sliding window glass at the second floor. Once inside, the suspect destroyed the wall that divided Jones Barbershop and Lucky Seven and used it as entrance going to Lucky Seven Internet Cafe. A black bull cap with reflectorized real fire sticker was found inside Jones Barbershop. A review of the recorded CCTV footages at Dangwa Square revealed a man going back and forth between 11:30 to 12:00 MN of December 22, 2017. One of the barbers at Jones Barber shop claimed that the recovered bull cap was owned by the janitor of Dangwa Square, the same person seen on the CCTV footages. The suspect admitted that he owned the bull cap and claimed that he entered the said establishment. The items stolen at Jones Barbershop were petty cash amounting to Php2,000.00 and a black leather wallet (Marithefrancois) Girbaud containing more or less Php1,000.00 and 10 Riyal paper bills, while missing inside Lucky Seven were assorted coins amounting to more or less Php1,500 placed inside a blue pouch with flowers imprinted, one white cherry mobile used for loading and one violet and white colored Adidas jacket.
Recovered from the room being occupied by the suspect located at the second floor of Lotwin Building, Dangwa Square compound were the missing items at Lucky Seven Internet Café particularly the blue pouch with assorted coins amounting to Php253.00, cherry mobile phone, Adidas jacket and the black leather wallet taken inside Jones Barbershop. The items recovered were recognized by the owners. The suspect also admitted that he committed the crime and other crimes– the robbery with force upon things that happened inside Uncle Pandong’s Media Relations Office and E.R.P. Narvaez Optical Clinic on December 18, 2017 at Dangwea Square that was reported to La Trinidad MPS on the same date. Regina Algen Narvaez personally reported the crime.
Accident in Sagada, Mtn. Province
A vehicular accident that transpired at around 8:15 AM of December 23, 2017 along the Sagada-Bontoc national road particularly at Sitio Pegew, Antadao, Sagada. Mtn. Province involving a light green Toyota Hi- Ace bearing plate number UKY 402 driven by Ray Navalta Laureaga, 56, married, native and resident of Magallanes, Luna, La Union. Investigation disclosed that the vehicle with nine passengers (belonging to one family) was descending towards Bontoc, Mtn. Province after visiting Sagada when it incurred mechanical defect (loose brakes). The driver attempted to bump the said vehicle on a mountain slope but still it was moving fast and it fell on a ravine about 40 meters deep and landed on a bushy area. As a result, the following passengers were rescued and were given first aid at the sight by the responding personnel of Sagada MPS with the MDRRMO, PDRRMO, ERT, BFP and tourist guides and were immediately rushed to Saint Theodore’s Hospital, Sagada for treatment of their respective injuries:
a. Lander Navalta Butlig, 18 years old;
b. Carlo Butlig Navalta, 18 years old;
c. Eleanor Navalta Galera, 52 years old;
d. Susana Butlig Navalta, 52 years old;
e. Pamilo Espirito Navalta 53 years old;
f. Remylyn Butlig Navalta, 20 years old;
g. Aquilino Butlig Navalta, 20 years old;
h. Gloria Niro Lauraga, 60 years old; and
i. Eric Opinia, 42 years old,
All passengers are residents of Magallanes, Luna, La Union. The vehicle suffered a broken wind shield, deformed body, damaged front wheels and under chassis, etc.
Another vehicular accident
At about 9:00 PM on December 25, 2017, a white Hyundai Grace van bearing plate number XFN 376 driven by Roberto Dampalig Dagibus, 39, married, and a resident of Banao, Bauko, Mountain Province fell into a more or less 100 meter deep ravine along the national road located at Sitio Tiguing, Barangay Losad, Sabangan, Mtn. Province and was reported at about 9:30 PM to the Sabangan MPS. Investigation disclosed that while the said vehicle was ascending, the driver lost control of the vehicle as he fell asleep, which he admitted. At about 9:25 PM, two victims identified as Jake Mangadno Rubang, 23, single and Mark Gallap Panta, 23, married, both residents of Banao, Bauko, Mountain Province managed to climb the hill and seek help from members of the Sabangan-Bontoc Operators and Driver’s Association (SBODA) who were staying at an auto shop and garage near the accident site. The two sustained minor injuries and were later brought to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH). At about 10:40 PM the driver and two other victims identified as Josie Bayangdo Mangawili, 36, single; Jade Tugaak, 18 single, all residents of Banao, Bauko, Mtn. Province were found to have sustained head injuries and suspected partial fractures due to the accident. Further investigation disclosed that the victims were drunk. The vehicle was a total wreck.
