Accidental Death (Choking)
Please be informed that at around 5:15 PM of January 2, 2018 Michelle Wamil Pedronan reported to Luna MPS that at around 10:00 AM of same date at Brgy. Capagaypayan, Luna, Apayao, her live-in partner, Jomarie David Chica, 23 years old, single, and a resident of above mentioned address, allegedly choked while chewing Betel Nut.
Investigation disclosed that the victim lost consciousness while chewing betel nut. Charles Roland, along with their other companion immediately brought the victim to Far North Luzon General Hospital & Training Center at Quirino, Luna, Apayao, however he was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) by the attending physician, Dr. Donnel Rivera. As per initial findings of the physician, the cause of death is due to mechanical obstruction in the upper airway. The cadaver of the victim is now laid at RPV Funeral Homes at Brgy. Ayaga, Abulug, Cagayan.
Decreased firecracker related injuries
The entire holiday season here in the Cordillera has been generally peaceful with a recorded minimal incidents of 18 firecracker related injuries and a lone case of indiscriminate firing.
The firecracker related injuries decreased this year compared with the 2016 figure of 26. As of this report, Abra recorded 2; Apayao- 3; Benguet- 5; Baguio City-3; Kalinga-3 while Ifugao and Mountain Province recorded one incident each.
No stray bullet related incident was reported for 2017, compared with two incidents for the year 2016. The lone case of indiscriminate firing in Abra is also lower compared to 3 recorded incidents in 2016.
Due to the police’s aggressive operations against indiscriminate firing during the Christmas and New Year revelry, one suspect identified as Roldan Bello Galbe was arrested in the night of December 29, 2017 at Barangay Poblacion, Villaviciosa, Abra for indiscriminately firing his Cal. 22 LLAMA pistol firearm.
Vehicular accident
On January 3, 2018 at around 1:10 PM, personnel of Mankayan MPS responded to a reported vehicular accident that transpired along the Mankayan-Abatan National Road particularly at Tubo, Sapid, Mankayan, Benguet. Involved vehicle is a Wrangler Jitney with plate number ADD 392 driven by the victim Domingo Osec Tigui-ing, 55, married, mechanical underground supervisor at Lepanto Mining Company, and a resident of Lower Guiwe, Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet.
Investigation revealed that at around 11:11 AM of said date, involved vehicle was on its way from Besao, Mtn. Province to Mankayan, Benguet. When it reached the curved portion of the road, the driver dozed off and lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle fell into a creek about 15 meters below. The victim sustained abrasions on his forehead and he was brought to Lepanto Hospital, Paco, Mankayan, Benguet by the personnel of the company. The vehicle’s windshield was broken and parts of its body were dented or scratched.
Vehicular accident
On January 3, 2018 at about 4:30 PM, a vehicular accident transpired along the National Road at barangay Talite, Aguinaldo, Ifugao involving a passenger jitney bearing plate no. BVT 197. Immediately personnel of Aguinaldo MPS responded and learned that the said passenger jitney was driven by Ramil Lapchoc Mag-in, 25, single, laborer, and a resident of Hinalong, Talite, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.
Investigation disclosed that the vehicle was going home after unloading cargoes and passengers at the turning point at Talite Proper and while negotiating a curve on the road, the vehicle swerved towards the shoulder and the driver allegedly under the influence of liquor lost control of the vehicle then eventually fell into a 70 meter deep ravine. As a result three passengers, namely: Sanny Maguiwe Mag-in, 28, single, farmer; Rustom Lapchoc Mag-in, 21, single, and Marcos Po-awan Naila, 48, married, farmer, all residents of Barangay Talite, Aguinaldo, Ifugao sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies. The victim Sanny M Mag-in and Marcos P Naila were brought to the Aguinaldo Peoples’ Hospital while Rustom L Mag-in was referred to Potia District Hospital for medical treatment while the driver Ramil L. Mag-in was unhurt. The cost of damage on the vehicle is still undetermined.
