Baguio City Hall employee falls due to drugs
An employee of the Baguio City Hall was arrested earlier today by anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera and local police in a sting operation at Upper General Luna, Laubach Road, Baguio City.
Randolph Ryan Marrero Estigoy alias Randy, 39 years old, resident of Happy Glenn Loop, Salud Mitra, Baguio City and ticket checker of the Baguio City Treasury Office was cuffed for selling a heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu worth P10,000 to an undercover agent.
Upon his arrest, Estigoy yielded the buy-bust money used during the transaction.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the PDEA-CAR jail facility and will be charged before the proper authorities for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act Number 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrest of Estigoy serves as a stern warning to public officials and employees to veer away from illegal drugs.
17 gamblers fall
Police Regional office Cordillera arrested seventeen gamblers of whom three are minors after they were caught in the act of illegal gambling over the weekend in the different provinces of the Cordillera.
In Baguio City, nine bettors were successively arrested on March 4, 2018 identified as Ramil Dineros Pornelos, 42, vendor, resident of Purok 1, Gibraltar; Jose Marchan Hara, 41, resident of Maria Basa, Pacdal, and three male minors were nabbed at the basketball court of DMCI Compound, Brgy. Pacdal, Baguio City. While Arjay Jose Laureta, 21; Mark Navidad Jose, 19, both native of Dupax del Norte, Nueva Viscaya; Mario Marzan Pagador, 51, native of San Vicente, Pangasinan; and Naldo Olario Maborang, 59, native of Balaoan, La Union and all stay-in construction workers were also arrested at the ongoing building construction at Villamor St, Lualhati, Baguio City. A total of Php3,238 bet money and 52 pieces of playing cards were confiscated from them.
In Abra, four male gamblers identified as Eddie Boy Valeros Millare, Daryl Dave Mata David, Mark Anthony Tadeo Palecpec and Jeravie Valeros Bulda were nabbed while in the act of playing mahjong in the afternoon of March 4, 2018 at Sitio Bacsil, Brgy. Angad, Bangued, Abra. Confiscated from them were one (1) set of mahjong and bet money amounting to Php795.00 in different denominations.
In Benguet, two male individuals, namely, Loyd Mayomis y Aronza and Prinston Randy Poras y Soan both of legal age and residents of Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet and Tublay, Benguet, respectively, were arrested in the act of “cockfighting” in Baragay Virac, Bobon, Itogon, Benguet in the afternoon of the same day. Confiscated were two (2) jolo fighting cocks, bet money amounting to Php800.00 in different denominations, three notebooks, and one ballpen.
In Mountain Province, bettors identified as William Finatek Chakas, 57, driver, and a resident of Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province and Hansel Lamag Singlan, 29, native of Anabel, Sadanga, Mountain Province were arrested in the afternoon of March 3, 2017 inside Bogs Chakas Building, Komesey, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province. Confiscated from them were two decks of playing cards, bet money amounting to Php 270.00 and an improvized table.
PROCOR Regional Director PCSUP Edward Carranza ordered all provincial directors to continue intensified operations against illegal gambling in the region.
Cops arrest 3 suspects for illegal drugs
Three individuals are now in jail after they were caught red handed of illegal drug and firearms.
Recently, joint personnel of Lubuagan MPS and Kalinga PMFC arrested Dongga-as Rex Gaspi, 25, and resident of Brgy Antonio Canao, Lubuagan, Kalinga in the night of March 4, 2018.
The suspects were riding a motorcycle and allegedly fired a gun and eluded the PNP checkpoint along the National Road in the vicinity of Ayawon, Brgy Mabilong, Lubuagan, Kalinga. The operatives give a chase that led to the arrest of Gaspi while his companion evaded arrest.
Confiscated from his possession were three (3) plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 5 grams, one Remington 1911 cal. 45 pistol, one magazine loaded with two (2) ammunition, two (2) spent shells for same caliber, wallet containing cash amounting to Php14,000.00 and another Php1, 250.00 inserted in his shirt.
In another operation, cops arrested two suspects at Sitio Mal-o, Brgy. Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga in the afternoon of March 1, 2018 after they were reported to be purchasing marijuana.
Prior to their arrest, suspects identified as Jeremy Miranda Ona, 24, resident of Gibraltar Road, Baguio City; and Stephen Job Oyga Blanco, 19, resident of Balacbac Road, Baguio City, were seen by an agent procuring dried marijuana leaves at Brgy Proper Butbut, Tinglayan, Kalinga and later rode a PUV bound for Bontoc, Mtn. Province. Responding personnel immediately responded that led to their arrest.
As a result, three packs of dried MJ leaves wrapped with brown packing tape weighing a total of 2.35 kilograms with a dangerous drug board value of P293,750.00 were seized from them.
All suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165 while an additional case was filed against Gaspi for illegal possession of firearm.**
