Landslide incidents
On May 28, 2017 at around 2:40 PM, personnel of Banaue MPS responded to a landslide incidents in Hiwang, Gohang and Viewpoint, Banaue, Ifugao.
Initial investigation disclosed that while Tony Patang Apidchor Jr, 30 years old, Army reservist, native and a resident of Bocos, Banaue, Ifugao was driving his Pregio van on reverse gear when the mounta inside suddenly eroded. His companion was able to jump out from the vehicle and called for help.
Concerned citizens immediately dug him out from the vehicle and rushed him to the Good News Clinic and Hospital but later brought to Panopdopan District Hospital for further medical treatment.
Thereafter, same personnel responded to another landslide incident in Viewpoint, Banaue, Ifugao. There were three affected houses and one injured person identified as Nestor Ballawid, 45 years old, married, contractual worker of DPWH, native and a resident at the place of incident. He was immediately rushed to Good News Clinic and later transported to Panopdopan District Hospital for further medical treatment.
Personnel of Banaue MPS together with the NDRRMC and some other concerned residents conducted clearing operations on the affected thoroughfares.
Robbery with force upon things
Between 4:00 PM to 9:20 PM of May 28, 2017 in Brgy. Poblacion West, Flora, Apayao, the house owned by Romelyn Pascua Pacoy, 33 years old, married, housewife, and a resident there was robbed by unidentified suspect/s.
Investigation disclosed that at around 4:00 PM of May 28, 2017, the victim and her family left their house unattended to visit a relative in Pudtol, Apayao. Allegedly, when they returned at around 8:30 PM on the same date, they noticed that the back window of their house was forcibly opened. The victim also discovered that their belongings were scattered and the following items were missing:
· One silver necklace for a female worth Php1,300.00;
· One silver necklace for a male with eagle pendant worth Php3,700.00;
· Two silver rings worth Php1,400.00;
· One J3 Samsung cell phone worth Php4,000.00; and
· Coins amounting to Php1,000.00.
Responding personnel of Flora MPS processed the crime scene and developed a latent print. The suspect/s forcibly opened the back window of the house as their entry and exit points. Case is still under investigation.
Illegal large scale recruitment
On May 29, 2017 at about 9:00 AM, along Km5, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet, personnel of La Trinidad MPS arrested Ms. Carita Sicladoy Atonen, 35, single, self-employed, a native of Bakun, and a resident of Acop, Tublay, Benguet.
The arrest was made by virtue of Bench Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Cecilia Corazon S. Dulay-Archog, acting presiding Judge of RTC Branch 8, 1StJudicial Region, La Trinidad, Benguet for “Illegal Recruitment In Large Scale docketed as Criminal Case No. 14-CR-10258 with no bail recommended.
Attempted Theft (Bukas-Kotse)
A Case of Attempted Theft (Bukas-Kotse) discovered at around 8:50 PM of June 1, 2017 along Upper Session Road, Baguio City and only reported at around 10:15 PM of same date ion complaint of PO2 Jayson Bangyadao Tabcao, of legal age and presently assigned at Police Precinct 3, PS 7, BCPO against the arrested person Jaime Butic Dampilag Jr., 42 years old, laborer, native of Lagawa, Bauko, Mtn. Province and a resident of #474 Purok West Camp 7, Kennon Road, Baguio City.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect was caught by the police officers (P03 Patrick Lamog & P03 Danny Bomogao) in plain clothes conducting anti criminality activities in the area peeping from the window of the complainant’s vehicle parked at aforementioned place. Suddenly, suspect tried to open the driver side door using different keys causing the vehicle’s alarm to sound. Suspect hurriedly left the area but was restrained by the Police Officers who chased him. Personnel of Police Precinct 3 who responded identified the subject vehicle as the vehicle of PO2 Tabcao, a black Mitsubishi Pajero bearing plate no. RDU 130. All his belongings were intact inside.
Rape
An alleged rape transpired at around 5:00 PM of May 29, 2017 at Sitio Pulot, Butao, Calanasan, Apayao wherein the victim, aka “Carol”, 27, single was allegedly raped by her stepfather, Silyano Ubbec Gayang, 46, married, CAFGU and both residents of the above stated place. Said incident was only reported to Calanasan MPS on June 1, 2017 at around 2:00 PM by the victim together with her mother.
Investigation disclosed that on May 29, 2017, the victim together with her mother, stepfather and siblings went to Centro Butao, Calanasan, Apayao to attend the barangay fiesta. At around 5:00 PM of the same date they decided to go home at Sitio Pulot of the same barangay. Thereat, they decided to rest and have a cup of coffee at the house of her grandfather, Balbin Bawig. Moments later, the victim asked permission from her mother to go to their house to change her clothes. While the victim was inside her room changing, the suspect suddenly appeared and forcibly removed her underwear then sexually abuse her. The victim resisted but the suspect was very strong to fulfill his intent. After satisfying his lewd desire, the suspect threatened the victim not to tell to her mother then left the room.
The victim was referred to Apayao District Hospital and Rural Health Unit for medical check-up but further referred to MSWDO for a case study due to unavailability of doctors. **
