P17.4 M worth of marijuana
destroyed in Kalinga
Combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents in the Cordillera uprooted, and destroyed a total of 860,000 fully grown marijuana plants, and seedlings worth 17.4million in Tinglayan, Kalinga during a 3- day operation on April 27-29, 2018.
Joint personnel of Kalinga PPO, Regional Maneuver Force Battalion (RMFB 15), and members of the PDEA-CAR implemented Oplan Five Fingers Saga in the areas of Barangays Buscalan and Loccong of Tinglayan, Kalinga.
During the operation, operating troops discovered 15 marijuana plantation sites and were able to uproot a total of 847,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 13,000 marijuana seedlings with a total Dangerous Drug Board value of Php17,480,000.00. All uprooted marijuana plants were hauled and burned on site, while only a token representation was brought to Tinglayan, Kalinga for evidentiary purposes.
Operating teams are continuously searching for more possible marijuana plantations in the remote communities of the province to discourage the planting of marijuana.
Chief Superintendent Edward E Carranza, Regional Director of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) said that validation is being conducted to identify the cultivators and file charges against them in court.
The operation is in consonance with the President’s order to all law enforcement agencies which is to sustain their fight against criminality, corruption and illegal drugs.
“We will not stop until the last marijuana cultivator, the last financier, and the last pusher will be arrested, surrendered or put behind bars,” PCSUPT Carranza said.
PROCOR seizes 12 assorted firearms
The intensified campaign of PRO-Cordillera PNP against Loose Firearm resulted in the confiscation and voluntary surrender of 12 assorted firearms, 269 live ammunition and arrest of 3 violators from April 23 to 29, 2018.
In the 9 police operations, Kalinga policemen confiscated three assorted firearms with two arrests; Ifugao confiscated two firearms with one arrest followed by Apayao with four surrendered firearms; one each from Abra and Mtn. Province while zero from Baguio and Benguet.
Worthwhile stressing was the arrest of three suspects by virtue of a search warrant in the provinces of Ifugao and Kalinga.
Joint operatives of Aguinaldo MPS and Ifugao Police Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPPMFC) arrested Alex Ahuyan y Abbacan, 25, farmer, a resident of Sitio Maalalahi, Buwag, Aguinaldo, Ifugao in the early morning of April 29, 2018. Confiscated are one Smith & Wesson Magnum 357 revolver without serial number; one Cal. 30 M1 rifle loaded with 6 ammunition; one magazine with 2 live ammo for cal. 9mm; two clips loaded with 8 ammunition for Cal. 30; 172 assorted ammunition; four empty shells for Cal. 30; one slug for Cal. 45; two black inside holster; and one green bandolier with marking AFP.
In another operation, joint operatives of Kalinga PPO, Intelligence personnel of PROCOR, RIU-14 and members of the Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Ayyongo Banya-ao and Daniel Dolnagon at Sitio Guimma, Brgy Mabaca, Tanudan, Kalinga in the morning of April 25, 2018. Confiscated were One (1) U.S Carbine Cal. 30 without serial number; One (1) ARMSCOR gauge 12 shotgun with tampered serial number; One (1) Colt 1911 Cal. 45 pistol with inserted magazine; 81 assorted pieces of live ammunition; four (4) assorted magazines; one (1) black inside holster for Cal. 45 pistol; and one (1) black outside holster for Cal. 45 pistol.
All arrested suspects together with the confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units prior to the filing of appropriate charges in court.
Alleged physical injuries
A case of alleged physical injuries transpired at Sun Valley, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet on April 30, 2018 at about 7:30 AM. The victims were Mr. Jerwin Valdesco Diola, 21, and Mr. Melvin Diola Caadlawan, 25, both are single, helpers, natives of Tacloban City, and residing at JC-313, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet. The suspects were Mr. Alvin Arcanghel Carlo, 19, single, native of 62-B, Laoag City, Mr. Jimson Pagaduan Segundo, 23, married, native of Abatan, Buguias, Benguet, Punar Tagare Taganas, 32, single, native of Loaog City, all are stay-in at Agora Building, Pico, LTB and Mr. Jhay Tinay Paran, 23, married, resident of Boyscout, Km. 5, Pico, LTB who are all helpers of Mr. Dante Pagaduan Liwanag, 34, native of Buguias, Benguet and residing at AU 38, Tawang, La Trinidad, Benguet. Said incident was reported to La Trinidad MPS by the victims at 12:00 NN of said date. According to the victims, they were mauled by the suspects due to misunderstanding about carrots. RA 9262 (physical abuse)
An alleged violation of RA 9262 was reported at around 7:35 AM of May 1, 2018 by the victim, Arlyn Dawanan Buqueg, 39 years old, single, high school graduate, resident of Brgy. Malama, Conner, Apayao. The suspect is her live-in partner Jay-Ar Pudoc aka “Mac-Mac”, of legal age, single, and resident of Brgy. Nagbabalayan, Kabugao, Apayao. Investigation disclosed that on the evening of April 18, 2018 at their residence in Brgy. Nagbabalayan, Kabugao, Apayao, the suspect arrived home drunk and suddenly kicked, slapped and hit her using a leather belt with metal buckle hitting her left ear. After the incident, the victim called her brother, Abdul Dawanan and he rescued her on April 19, 2018, brought her home at Brgy. Malama, Conner, Apayao. She was brought to Conner District Hospital on April 23, 2018 for medical treatment. Findings include multiple hematoma and contusions on the different parts of her body due to the alleged mauling. The victim further averred that for more than three years he had been maltreating her, however, she did not report the previous incidents thinking that he will change, but never did. She decided to file charges against the suspect due to the latest incident. **
