P2M-worth of MJ in Kalinga burned
Joint anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera and local police conducted a marijuana eradication campaign yesterday that resulted in the burning of P2,038,000 worth of the illegal weed.
The government troops were able to destroy five marijuana cultivation sites located in Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga, with a total land area of 1,080 square meters.
Authorities were able to torch 10,190 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants during the operation but no marijuana cultivator was arrested.
Cultivation of marijuana is prohibited under Republic Act Number 9165. Any cultivator, if found guilty, would be facing life imprisonment and a fine regardless of the quantity of marijuana planted.**PDEA-CAR
PDEA Baguio cuffs drug group member
Anti-narcotics agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Baguio Office scored anew after arresting a member of a local drug group in a buy-bust operation this afternoon along Longlong Road, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Vincent Mark Bilon Malicdem, alias Pogs, 24 years old, graduating college student, member of a local drug group operating in Baguio and Benguet and a resident of Bakakeng Norte, Baguio City was arrested when he sold a heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu worth P10,000.00 to an undercover agent.
Upon his arrest, Malicdem yielded two more sachets containing suspected shabu, the buy-bust money and a Toyota Altis vehicle used during the illegal drug trade.
He is now temporarily detained at the PDEA-CAR jail facility pending the filing of appropriate cases for violation of Republic Act Number 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” before the proper authorities.
Malicdem’s arrest came a day after the same operating unit was able to arrest Dominador Dagulo and Jesus dela Cruz in a sting operation that led to the confiscation of P350,000 worth of shabu.**PDEA-CAR
Drowning Incident
Please be informed that at around 1:20 PM of June 4, 2018, a drowning incident transpired at Blue Mountain Cabin, Taccong, Sagada, Mountain Province. The victim was identified as Laurence Carl Merced Valez Monroy, 7 years old, grade 3 pupil and resident of Potlod, Nueva Ecija and temporarily billeted together with his family at Sunrise View Homestay, Kal-I, Antadao, Sagada, Mountain Province. The incident was reported to Sagada MPS at around 2:40 PM of same day.
Investigation disclosed the victim and his family went to the place to swim and they did not notice that the victim went to the adult swimming pool, until his grandmother Lolita Dela Cruz Dizon noticed that her grandson already drowning and tried to rescue him but she could not swim that prompted her to call for help from her companions. The victim was rescued by his uncle and immediately applied Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and subsequently rushed to the St. Theodore’s Hospital in the town by the caretaker of said resort. The victim was declared dead by the attending physician Dr. Myrjhonahlyn Rolluda, Medical Specialist at around 2:20 PM of same day due to aspiration, cardiopulmonary arrest secondary to drowning and now lies at the hospital morgue.
Violation of anti-urinating law
At about 3:00 AM of June 5, 2018 at Igorot Park, Harrison Road, Baguio City on complaint of PO3 Danny Bomogao, PO1 Dickson Clemente Abuan, and PO1 Denmark Pangsiw, assigned at Police Station 7 and City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), Baguio CPO, all designated as operatives against the suspect identified as Samson Bongyao Alino, 30 years old, single, laborer, presently residing at Dominican, Mirador, Baguio City and native of Batad, Banaue, Ifugao.
Allegedly, complainants were conducting an anti- criminality operation along Harrison Road, Baguio City when they chanced upon the suspect urinating at the side of the park that prompted them to apprehend him and informed him that he violated the Anti-urinating Ordinance of Baguio City. The suspect argued with the police officers that resulted in a heated argument between the suspect and PO3 Bomogao. The suspect was about to bring out a knife but was noticed by PO1 Abuan who grabbed the knife and arrested the suspect. While on their way to Police Station 7, the suspect told the complainants twice “haan dak nga ikolkolong sir, ikkak dakayot sangaribo”. The suspect and the recovered 9.5 inch knife was turned over to the duty investigators for proper disposition.
