Abra Search Nets 2 Drug Group Leaders, Cohort
P0.82M worth of shabu seized
Three drug personalities were arrested by anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Abra Provincial Office, PDEA Cordillera Regional Office, and local police earlier today during the simultaneous implementation of search warrants in Abra.
Jay Borreta Azurin, 38 years old, tricycle driver, leader of a local drug group operating in Abra and a resident of Barangay Agtangao, Bangued, Abra was arrested together with his 28-year old female cohort, alias Trixy, who is a native of Sta. Rosa, Laguna but presently residing at Zone 7, Bangued, Abra.
Authorities confiscated within Azurin’s compound 16 heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu, two knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves, a Beretta cal. 22 firearm, a Bersa cal. 40 firearm, several drug paraphernalia and several live ammunition.
In Barangay Cabuloan, Bangued, Abra, government troops searched the house of a 28-year old female leader of another local drug group operating in Abra. The search yielded three heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu worth P4,000.
A combined weight of more or less 121 grams of shabu worth P824,000 were seized in the operations.
Azurin and his aide will be facing cases for violation of Republic Act Number 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” and Republic Act Number 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” while the other female drug group leader will be slapped with a case for violating R.A. No. 9165.
Alleged robbery and extortion
On July 31, 2018 at about 11:00 AM, a case of robbery and extortion transpired at Petron gasoline station, Kisad Road, Baguio City as complained by Angie Adipen Ducusin, 28, married, OFW and resident of No. 34 Daungan Street, Malhakan Meycauayan, Bulacan against her former boyfriend Edmar Paas Calindas, 19, unemployed and resident of Upper Ile Conner Apayao.
Investigation disclosed that the complainant personally appeared at Police Station 5 Baguio CPO and requested for assistance that she was about to meet the suspect who was asking for Php10,000.00. Further, complainant averred that she was threatened by the suspect that he will post on Facebook her nude pictures if she would not send money to the suspect. Personnel of Station 5 conducted an entrapment operation against the suspect that resulted in his arrest.
Synchronized police perations net 84 suspects, 31 firearms and P13.6 million worth of illegal drugs
Simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations resulted in the arrest of eighty (84) suspects, confiscation of 31 assorted firearms, and seizure of at least 13.6 million worth of illegal drugs.
In the enforcement of the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act“, thirty one (31) assorted high and low powered firearms, 82 pieces of assorted ammunition for various calibers, five (5) pieces of assorted magazines, and two (2) grenades were seized, leading to the arrest of nine (9) individuals.
Sixty four (64) wanted persons were arrested by virtue of warrants; 5 were arrested upon implementation of Search Warrants, while 15 others were arrested during routine Police operations.
Seven (7) arrested suspects belong to the Provincial/City Ten Most Wanted Persons (TMWP) for the 3rd quarter of 2018. They are Erick Pae-eng, Mountain Province’s No. 3 TMWP and a resident of Tadian, Mountain Province. He was arrested for the crime of rape, with no bail recommended. Ershton Francisco y Nehyeban, listed as No. 7 TMWP of Benguet, and resident of Sitio Kakalung, Tulludan, Tinoc, Ifugao, was arrested at Poblacion, Tinoc, Ifugao for two counts of abuse against a woman and her children, while Baguio City’s No. 8 TMWP, Royce Ortiz Mesina, was nabbed at Barangay San Roque, San Isidro Nueva Ecija, for the crime of rape with no bail recommended.
The Baguio City Police Office, meanwhile, bagged three of its Ten Most Wanted Persons: Erlinda Cirilo, 44 years old, No. 4 TMWP of Police Station 8. She was nabbed at San Luis Village, Baguio City for the crime of estafa; Renato E. Busoy, 35 years old, No. 5 of Station 7. He was arrested at Urdi compound, Dominican Hill, Baguio City for Violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 with no bail recommended; Bonyan Cangitit, 32 years old, No. 4 TMWP of Station 9, was arrested at Sitio Lugu, Amganad, Banaue, Ifugao for a case of Frustrated and Attempted Homicide. Another suspect, Jeson Ekin Acol who was listed as number 1 TMWP in Buguias, was arrested at Pila, Alibangsay, Bagulin, La Union for child abuse.
On the operations against illegal drugs, eight suspects were arrested, while marijuana and other illegal drugs with an estimated value of Php13,604,250.00 were confiscated. The seized illegal drugs consisted of 11 marijuana bricks weighing 10.25 kilograms with dangerous drug board value of Php256, 250.00; marijuana stalks and 18 sachets of suspected shabu. The bulk marijuana plants, and 20,000 grams were destroyed at Brgy. Butbut Proper, Busculan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
On the anti-Illegal gambling operations, three (3) persons identified as Rex Solinto Benter, Roldan Bugnalen Gayyaman, and Johnson Emilio Saclag were caught in the act of playing card games inside a van at LTO Compound, St. Joseph Village, Baguio City. One set of playing cards and PhP1,600.00 bet money in different denominations were confiscated from their possession.
On anti-illegal logging, 7 pieces of abandoned lumber with different dimensions totalling 196 board feet, and an estimated market value of PHP 7,840.00, was confiscated at Sitio Fiakingey, Mangnao Brgy. Saliok, Natonin Mountain Province.
Of the eighty four arrests, Baguio City Police Office contributed 28, Kalinga 15, Benguet 12, Ifugao 11, Abra 9, Apayao 6 and Mountain Province 3.**
