Extortion
On September 22, 2018 between 9:02 AM to 4:40 PM, an alleged case of extortion was committed inside a wagwagan stall at Lakandula St., Baguio City as complained by Abraham Gawongna Bao-et, 29, married, entrepreneur, and his wife, Monalissa Adawi Bao-et, 28, married, entrepreneur, both residents of No. 36 Upper Atok Trail, Baguio City. Arrested suspect was Gavita Celino Adawi, 31, married, housewife, and a resident of 81-A Atok Trail, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that complainants were inside their stall when Monalissa Bao-et received messages from an unknown texter with cellphone number 09206336684 asking for money amounting to Php500,000.00 with a chilling threat that if they failed to give in to the demand, one of their family members will be killed who might be their daughter who was studying at a day care at Lower Atok Trail, Baguio City. Out of fear and nervousness, complainants immediately reported the incident at Police Station 7. A series of negotiation ensued between the complainants and the suspect until they finally settled at Php400,000.00 and the meeting place will be at the 1st gate, Loakan Road, Baguio City. Intel operatives of Police Station 7 conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect. Complainants were surprised to know that the suspect is the sister-in law of Monalissa Bao-et. Upon confrontation, the suspect admitted committing the crime due to financial problems. The case is for inquest proceeding and then the filing of the case in court.
Robbery thru intimidation
On September 22, 2018 at about 7:20, Christopher Buban Anog, 34, single, operations manager of Onon Marketing, and a resident at No. 32 Pallua Road, Pallua Norte, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan reported to the Rizal MPS that he was held-up by six (6) unidentified male persons armed with long firearms and their faces concealed with bonnets at Sitio Alibangbang, Brgy Liwan West, Rizal, Kalinga.
Investigation disclosed that the victim together with his son was traversing the Kalinga-Cagayan national road on board his Toyota Avanza bearing plate number NLI 652 coming from Tabuk City, Kalinga carrying the cash collections of the Onon Marketing office at Magsaysay, Tabuk City, Kalinga, going towards Tuguegarao City, Cagayan when six unidentified persons armed with long firearms flagged them down and declared that it was a hold-up. Suspects were able to get one (1) Lenovo L320 laptop, prepaid wifi, wallet, driver’s license, Philhealth ID, BDO ATM card, receipts and cash amounting to more or less Php744, 664.00, seven (7) pcs of different checks amounting to more or less Php229,443.00. Suspects ran towards the west while the victim went to the house of a certain Nerry of Rizal, Kalinga to ask for help before reporting to the Rizal police station. Personnel of Rizal MPS conducted a hot pursuit operation to no avail. Investigation is still ongoing.
Homicide by stabbing
On September 23,2018 at about 12:15 AM, at Purok 12, Irisan, Baguio City wherein a male victim who was identified as one Francisco F. Escano, 62 years old, married, taxi driver and residing at Guisad,Ferguzon Road, Baguio City was seen lying unconscious by concerned citizens beside the road near his driven taxi described as Adventure with plate No. AYL 385 with trade name “Four Star” and who sustained stab wounds on his chest, neck and abdomen. Personnel of EMS led by Elgin Magkachi responded and they attempted to revive the victim but failed thru cardio pulmonary resuscitation. So they brought the victim to Baguio General Hospital-Medical Center where the victim expired at around 2:19 AM of Sept. 23, 2018 as declared by his attending physician, Dr. Irish Gahid.. Police Station 9 personnel, MPU and CMFC, scoured the area for possible arrest of the still unidentified suspect/s but to no avail. Recovered from the victim are now under the custody of this station such as his collections amounting to Php3,044.00, one (1) black Samsung cellphone and his taxi ID.
Theft
On September 22, 2018 at about 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, an alleged theft transpired at Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet. The victim is Diego Crisostomo Gloria, 44, married, farmer, and a resident of JC 360-2 Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet while the suspect is identified as Gary Liangao Barbosa, 21, single, vegetable packer, and a resident of Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Investigation disclosed that the victim tied his two roosters worth Php10,000.00 each at the back of his boarding house and went to the garden. At about 10:00 AM of same date, the victim went home to eat and he met the suspect holding two roosters. The victim went immediately to the place where he tied his roosters and discovered that these were missing. He called the attention of the suspect but he ran towards Betag, La Trinidad. The victim was not able to catch him so he asked for help from his companions at the strawberry farm. While they were going around BAPTC Puguis, La Trinidad, they met the suspect walking and apprehended him. The stolen two roosters were not recovered. Case is being prepared by the police for filing with the Benguet Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.**
