200K reward for info to solve Sagada arson
A two hundred thousand pesos cash reward will be given to anyone who can give information that will lead to the solution of the burning of two houses and three cottages in Sagada, Mountain Province.
At about 8:30p.m. of November 8, 2018 in Sitio Kiltepan, Kilong, Sagada, a two-storey house, a bungalow and three cottages with a total estimated value of P4.7 million owned by Wilson G. Capuyan were burned down by still unidentified suspects with the use of improvised explosive devices (IED).
In the post-blast investigation conducted by the Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) and the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) of PNP-PROCOR and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Sagada, fragments of IEDs, 13 sticks of dynamite, salvo explosives and the chemical PVT, two pieces of half size dynamite wrapped with packing tape and accumulated burned safety fuse were found in the place of incident. Not far from the devastated house, patrolling police officers found two empty plastic containers believed to have contained gasoline and also used for the burning of the structures.
According to the BFP Sagada, Mountain Province, the case will fall under Arson because of the pieces of evidence that were collected during investigations.
In the spirit of “lawa” and “inayan”, traditional customary concepts of Sagada, the victim together with PNP Cordillera are appealing to whoever knows of any information that will lead to the solution of the crime to please contact the Sagada MPS Chief of Police PSInsp Basilio K Hopdayan. tinfo and the informant will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Theft
On November 18, 2018 at about 8:45 PM, a case of theft (Shoplifting) transpired at SM Department Store, Luneta Hill, Baguio City on complaint of Amante Mapanao Aratas, 27, single, employed as civilian security guard, in behalf of SM management against Marla Dela Cruz Deppas, 29, married, sales associate, and resident of No.145 San Vicente, Baguio City who surreptitiously took the following items valued at Php 4401.25:
a. One (1) piece Dansen Plain Blue Polo worth Php 1099.75,
b. One (1) piece Sahara Woven Black Polo worth Php 1199.75,
c. One (1) piece Under Armour T-Shirt worth Php 1395.00,
d. One (1) Bottle Creamsilk Conditioner 350 ml worth Php 210.00,
e. One (1) pack Cosmetic Tool Kit worth Php 389.75; and
f. One (1) Bottle Palmolive cream conditioner 180 ml worth Php 389.75.
Investigation disclosed that the complainant saw the suspect acting suspiciously prompted him to follow her secretly towards the Men’s Wear area, Upper Ground Floor, SM Department store. Minutes later, complainant saw again the suspect enter the store holding an empty red hand bag heading towards the same area. Afterwards, the suspect left the area with the bag containing the aforesaid items. Complainant followed the suspect to the food court then approached and asked her if she paid for the items. Unable to show any proof of payment, suspect at the cashier and if she can show copy of receipt as proof of purchase of the same but suspect failed to show any. Immediately, suspect was brought to the nearby police stataion. Case is ready for filing.
Vehicular accident
On November 18, 2018 at about 5:20pm a vehicular accident transpired in Lasong, Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet. Vehicles involved are a KIA Sorento with plate number RBH 222, driven by Perlita Osit Vinoya, 41, married, housekeeper and a resident of No. 08 Purok 3, Ambiong, Aurora Hill, Baguio City; and a Toyota Fortuner with plate number ZAU 305, driven by Trizha Bartolome Ocampo, 24, single, self-employed and a resident of Sto. Tomas Proper, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet.
Investigation showed that the KIA was heading towards Baguio City when it incurred a mechanical defect (loose brakes) prompting the driver to swerve to the left portion of the road where it bumped the Fortuner on the opposite lane. As a result, both vehicles incurred heavy damage on their front portions. The two passengers of the Fortuner, Hulster Magat, 24, and a resident of Camp 8, Baguio City and Ghenesis Latugat, 18, and a resident of Trancoville, Baguio City were brought by a concerned citizen to Baguio General Hospital for the medical treatment of their minor injuries. Mrs. Vinoya is willing to shoulder the damages of the Fortuner and the medical expenses of the two victims.
Mining accident
On November 17, 2018 at about 12:50pm, Tuba MPS received a report that an underground accident transpired at about 8:00am of Nov 17, 2018 at level 798 ML Breaker PL 13-14, underground of Philex Mines, Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet. The victim was identified as Victor Denis Quines, 31, married, Philex Mines employee and resident of Greenhills, Philex Mines, Tuba, Benguet. Allegedly, the victim was on a 3rd shift duty in the underground from 8:00pm to 8:00am when he was buried with boulders during a widening and blasting activity. Immediately, underground miners rescued the victim and was rushed to the Philex Sto. Nino Hospital at about 10:35am of same date but declared DOA by the attending physician.**
