Igorot Phil Army general awards medals to Cordi cops
The commander of the Mechanized Infantry Division (MID) of the Philippine Army awarded medals to 15 cops of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) during the flag raising ceremony and Distinguished Visitor Program at Camp Major Bado Dangwa,La Trinidad, Benguet.
Brigadier General Bismarck Soliba, MID commander, led the pinning of nine “Medalya ng Papuri”, three “Medalya ng Kagalingan” and three “Medalya ng Paglaban sa Manliligalig” to the 15 uniformed personnel of PROCOR for their excellent performance in police operations and their commitment to duty.
Police Captain Juan Carlos Recluta, Patrolman First Class Ben Gabino, Jr. and Patrolman First Class Cyrus Vanci Backen, all from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, (RMFB15) received “Medalya ng Papuri” for their commitment and outstanding performance that led to the successful search and rescue operations in Sablan, Benguet on January 11, 2019.
Same medals were awarded to Police Captain Allanvrix Casia, Patrolman John Macaiba, Jr. and Patrolman Christian Guinnayao, all members of the 1503rd Maneuver Company of RMFB15, for arresting Benny Palason for violation of RA 10591 or the firearms laws of the Philippines and the confiscation of a 9mm Armscor pistol with live ammunition during the conduct of a checkpoint at Talaca, Agbannawag, Kalinga on October, 2018.
Three Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) cops also received “Medalya ng Papuri”. Police Captain Arnold Lising, Police Senior Master Sergeant Elmerlito Dangli and Police Staff Sergeant Limuel Charopeng were awarded for the successful arrest of Crisostomo Bernal on January 10, 2019 in Baguio City for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1613 or the arson law of the Philippines.
Further, “Medalya ng Kagalingan” were also awarded to Police Captain Zacarias Caloy Dausen, Patrolman Filbert Flores and Patrolman Jefferson Edal, all from RMFB, for the destruction of Php2,560,000.00 worth of marijuana plants at Mt. Bilis, Sitio Batangan, Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on January 17, 2019.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Ceasar Cattiling, Police Executive Master Sergeant Anthony Cong-o and Police Master Sergeant Dennis Aranca received “Medalya ng Paglaban sa Manliligallig” for their continuous participation to PROCOR’s relentless campaign against dissidents in the Cordillera.
Brig. Gen. Soliba, in his speech, lauded the awardees and urged the men and women of PROCOR to sustain and strengthen the level of partnership to the community and provide excellent services to the public whom we have sworn to serve.
Homicide
At about 10:30 PM of January 27, 2019, a case of homicide transpired inside the D’ Winer’s Videoke Bar located at the basement of Tahan Building, Kayang Hilltop, Baguio City. The victim was identified as Fausto Vargas Damulo, 42 years old, married, and presently residing in Balite, Long Long, Pinsao Proper, Baguio City while the perpetrator is still unidentified.
Investigation disclosed that the victim approached the mobile car 87 of Police Station 7 manned by P02 Jefree Tacata that was parked at the loading area of Pinsao jeepneys and immediately stumbled on the pavement. P02 Tacata immediately approached the victim and noticed the blood oozing from his neck that prompted him to call for assistance from his companions. The victim was rushed to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for first aid before he was brought to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. However, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigators were able to locate the suspected weapon used for the crime inside the comfort room at the place of incident..
Pusher fall in a buy bust ops
A drug pusher was arrested on the afternoon of January 24, 2018 after selling illegal drugs to undercover agents of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) who acted as buyers in a buy bust operation.
Clint Encarnacion, 30 was under arrest for selling five sachets of dried marijuana leaves weighing 208 grams and worth Php5,000.00 to Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) agents of BCPO at Government Center, Military Cut Off, Baguio City.
Police Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana said that the arrested person is a newly identified drug pusher and user and not listed in the drug watch list of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR).
Abra vice mayor surrenders firearms
The vice mayor of Tineg, Abra yesterday surrendered five assorted firearms to the Regional Director of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) at Camp Juan Villamor, Bangued, Abra.
Tineg vice mayor Edwin Crisologo personally submitted to PCSupt Rolando Nana one garand rifle, one M16, a carbine rifle, one homemade 12 guage shotgun and a caliber 38 revolver.
CSupt Nana said that this is the result of PROCOR’s intensified campaign against loose firearms and peacekeeping programs this election period.
In a speech, the good vice mayor encouraged all political personalities, not only in Abra but in all other provinces, who have firearms in their possession to do the same. “This is for our own good and for the public as well”, he quoted.
During the program, 68 firearms, including the ones surrendered by vice mayor Crisologo, were exhibited and witnessed by representatives of the Commission on Election (COMELEC) Abra, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and the media.
Among the 68 assorted low and high-powered firearms, 42 were submitted for safekeeping purposes only, while 26 were loose firearms. .**
