Over P365K worth of illegally sawn lumber was seized while nine individuals were arrested during an intensified anti-illegal logging operation conducted by the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) in Brgy. Sipa, Sta. Marcela, Apayao on February 2, 2026.
According to reports from the Apayao Police Provincial Office (PPO), the suspects, identified as nine male individuals—seven residents of Pudtol, one resident of Kabugao, and one resident of La Trinidad, Benguet— were arrested after they were caught in the act of hauling and loading illegally sawn lumber, later identified as tanguile flitches with a total volume of 5,213.3 board feet and an estimated market value of PhP365,071.00, into a dump truck.
Reports revealed that joint personnel of 1st Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company, Sta. Marcela Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit of Apayao PPO, Regional Intelligence Division of PRO CAR, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Calanasan-Luna responded to information from a concerned citizen regarding the alleged hauling of illegally sawn lumber in Brgy. Sipa. Upon interception, the suspects failed to present the necessary permits or legal documents for the transport of the forest products, which prompted their arrest.
The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated lumber and the dump truck, were brought to the custody of Sta. Marcela MPS for documentation and proper disposition. The suspects will face charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 705, otherwise known as the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines. (RPIO PRO CAR)

PRO CAR nets over P231.6M in illegal drugs; arrests 20 personalities in monthlong operations
In line with the sustained campaign against illegal drugs under the PNP Focused Agenda of the Chief PNP, PGEN JOSE MELENCIO C NARTATEZ JR, the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) confiscated a total of PhP231,642,712.00 worth of illegal drugs and arrested 20 drug personalities during monthlong operations from January 1–31, 2026.
According to reports from the PRO CAR Regional Operations Division, a total of 119 anti-illegal drug operations were launched. These include 96 marijuana eradication operations, 19 buy-bust operations, three implementations of search warrants and three police responses.
These efforts led to the seizure of 103.84 grams of shabu, 1,500 ml of marijuana oil, 766,500 fully grown marijuana plants, 34,250 marijuana seedlings, and 634,930 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops. The total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of the haul is estimated at PhP231,642,712.00. Additionally, 20 drug personalities were arrested, one of whom is classified as a High Value Individual (HVI), while 19 are listed as Street-Level Individuals (SLI).
The most significant operations were carried out by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), which confiscated drugs worth PhP175,228,316.00 and arrested six SLIs. This was followed by the Kalinga PPO, which seized illegal drugs with an SDP of PhP55,817,220.00 and arrested five SLIs.
Furthermore, the Baguio City Police Office confiscated illegal drugs valued at PhP448,188.00 and arrested one HVI and six SLIs. The Abra PPO confiscated illegal drugs worth PhP138,584.00 and arrested one SLI, while the Apayao PPO confiscated illegal drugs worth PhP10,404.00 and arrested one SLI.
