PRO CAR Seizes Abandoned Lumber in Anti-Illegal Logging Ops in Kalinga
The Police Regional Office Cordillera Adminitrative Region (PRO CAR) and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) successfully seized abandoned sawn lumber during an anti-illegal logging operation conducted in Barangay Taggay, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, on February 23, 2026.
According to reports, police officers from the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station (MPS) discovered 15 pieces of lumber of various dimensions while conducting monitoring operations. The lumber, with a total volume of 156.5 board feet and an approximate market value of PhP9,390.00, was found concealed under coconut leaves.
Following the recovery, personnel from the Forestry Investment Portfolio Cal-owan checkpoint and the duty investigator from Pinukpuk MPS facilitated the transport of the lumber. The sezied lumber were turned over to CENRO-Pinukpuk in Barangay Junction for proper inventory, scaling, and appropriate disposition.
PRO CAR reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against illegal logging and other environmental crimes. The agency vowed to continue its rigorous efforts to protect and preserve the region’s natural resources for future generations.
