PROCAR’S press statement on the recent shooting incident in Pilar, Abra
The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) strongly condemns the shooting incident that targeted the convoy of a mayoralty candidate in Pilar, Abra, on February 28, 2025. This violent attack, which resulted in the tragic loss of two lives and left one individual wounded, is a blatant disregard for the rule of law and the peace we strive to uphold in the region.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and assure the public that we are fully committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. An extensive investigation is already underway, with our dedicated personnel working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
We call on the people of Abra to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement authorities. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is urged to come forward. Rest assured that the full force of the law will be applied to ensure accountability and prevent further violence, especially as we approach the election season.

Cordi Cops Confiscate Over P4M Worth of Illegal Drugs, Arrest Drug Personality in A Day Ops
The continuous campaign of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) against illegal drugs resulted in the seizure of PhP4,264,000.00 worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of a drug personality during a series of operations conducted in Benguet and Baguio City on March 4, 2025.
In Benguet, 3,150 fully grown marijuana plants and 30,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP4,230,000.00 were discovered in Sitio Adawey and Sitio Menac, Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan, during the marijuana eradication operations launched by the joint operatives of Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit of Benguet Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Division of PRO CAR, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR.
All discovered marijuana plants were incinerated on-site after proper documentation, with enough samples collected for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
Meanwhile, in Baguio City, a male vendor, aged 49, was arrested, and two sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 5.00 grams with an SDP of PhP34,000.00 were confiscated by the joint forces of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), City Intelligence Unit, City Mobile Force Company, City Investigation and Detective Management Unit, and Police Station 1 of Baguio City Police Office, along with the Regional Intelligence Unit 14, in Brgy. Lourdes Extension Subdivision during the service of a warrant of arrest for acts of lasciviousness against the suspect.
Reports revealed that during the pat-down search, the operatives discovered the said illegal drugs inside the back pocket of the suspect’s pants.
The suspect and the seized evidence were brought to the custody of the CDEU for documentation and appropriate disposition. The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. **
