OVER P60K WORTH OF ILLEGALY SAWN LUMBER SEIZED IN KALINGA
A case of violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines is being readied for filing against six (6) violators hauling illegally sawn Narra lumber worth PhP64,990 in Brgy. Mabaca, Tanudan, Kalinga on August 23, 2023.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the suspects were identified as Jhonel Manipon Detchoso, 21; Michael Jordan De Larma Mateo, 29; Alvin Ramos Batwagen Tondo, 25; Ricky Bale Lawi, 28; Richard Sikat Garma, 30; and Arnold Mateo Santos, 29; all residents of Quirino Province.
According to the same report, police officers of Tanudan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and joint personnel of DENR Kalinga and LGU Tanudan responded to a report regarding an ongoing hauling of illegally sawn Narra lumber near the river bank at Sitio Anago, Brgy. Mabaca, that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspect were one (1) unit chainsaw and seven (7) pieces of Narra lumber in different dimensions, with a total volume of 129.98 board feet and a market value of PhP64,990.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Tanudan MPS and will be facing charges for violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, while the chainsaw and Narra lumber were brought to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Kalinga for proper disposition.
OVER 1.9M WORTH OF MARIJUANA SEIZED, THREE INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED
Three (3) individuals were arrested after being caught transporting over P1.9 million worth of marijuana in a police drug interdiction conducted along Sitio Malupa, Abatan, Bauko, Mt. Province on August 23, 2023.
Citing reports submitted to PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the arrested suspects were identified as Christian Rico Navas Espirito Santo, 25; Alex Francisco Santos, 25; and John Paul Jungkin De Leon, 24, who are all residents of Theresa, Rizal.
The same report disclosed that joint operatives from the different units of Mt Province Police Provincial Office (PPO), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA) Mountain Province, Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-14, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Mountain Province immediately conducted checkpoint operation after receiving information about three individuals who would be transporting marijuana products from Buscalan, Kalinga to the province of Ilocos.
During their arrest, operatives found and confiscated sixteen (16) pieces of dried Marijuana leaves in brick form weighing 16,165 grams, worth Php 1, 939, 800.00, and one (1) black self-sealing plastic bag containing Marijuana Kush weighing MOL 3.5 grams with an estimated value of Php 4,200 inside the suspects’ car.
The confiscated pieces of evidence were inventoried on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by a DOJ representative, Prosecutor Clifford Langbis, Mr. Daryle Fayofay, media representative, and Kagawad Lydia Dino of Brgy. Abatan.
Subsequently, after the arrest, the suspects were brought to Bauko MPS where charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared against them, while the vehicle used by the suspects is currently under the custody of PDEA. **
