37 for illegal gambling
As a result of police operations, a total of 37 individuals were separately arrested while five (5) cockpit rings were dismantled regionwide on September 6, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, twenty-seven (27) gamblers were arrested for playing illegal card games, two (2) were caught engaging in illegal cock-fighting activity and eight (8) individuals were arrested for illegally collecting bet money.
Of the 27 arrested individuals, nine (9) were arrested in Bangued, Abra; four (4) in Manabo, Abra; seven (7) in Upper QM, Baguio City; three (3) in La Trinidad, Benguet; and four (4) in Tabuk City, Kalinga. They were all caught in the act of playing card games and mahjong.
Meanwhile, the two individuals were caught in the act of engaging in illegal cockfighting activity in Kias, Baguio City. while, eight (8) individuals were caught in the act of collecting bet money in Bauko, Mountain Province.
All arrested suspects and confiscated evidence are now in the custody of the concerned operating units for proper documentation while appropriate charges were filed against the suspects.
In addition, as part of the anti-illegal gambling operations conducted, five (5) cockpit rings were separately dismantled in Brgy. Ambuklao, Bokod; Brgy. Ambassador, Tublay; Brgy. Abiang, Atok; Brgy Nangalisan, Tuba; and Brgy Poblacion, Kibungan, all in Benguet.
9 drug personalities busted, P646K worth of MJ eradicated
As the result of the continuous anti-illegal drug operations in the Cordillera Region, nine (9) drug personalities were arrested while Php 464,000.00 worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in the weeklong anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by PROCOR cops on August 28 to September 3, 2022.
Citing the records from the PROCOR’s Regional Operations Division (ROD), for the week, both Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded four (4) arrested drug personalities while Kalinga PPO recorded one (1) arrested drug personality.
In Baguio City, the arrested personalities were identified as Melvin Subdi, 33; Mark Laurel Manipon, 35; Leni Abapo, 43; and Francis Dagson, 57.
In Benguet, the arrested personalities were identified as Teodoro Accatan, 57; Christian Paul Bugnosen, 36; Dencio Timatim, 64; and Rex Sotelo, 23.
While in Kalinga, the arrested drug personality was identified as Jerry Alunday, 33.
The separate anti-illegal drugs operation conducted resulted in the seizure of a total of 14.279 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 97,097.2 and the confiscation of a total of 130,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops with an SDP of Php 15,600,000.00.
All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, the continuous marijuana eradication operations being conducted by PROCOR have resulted in the destruction of a total of 2040 Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMP) and 1,400 marijuana seedlings with a total SDP of Php 464,000.00 in Benguet.
Drug den raided, 7 nabbed
As part of the continuous implementation of the anti-illegal drugs campaign of PROCOR, operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – CAR and Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) dismantled a drug den and arrested seven drug personalities in a buy-bust operation conducted in Brgy. Quirino Hill, Baguio City on September 4, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the arrested suspects were identified as Lyca Ananayo Kimmayong, 32; Nhap Gilbert Bulayang Duyan, 31; Thum Claude Baddan Gadang, 21; Maribel Parica Ofiana, 50; Norilyn Bermudez Bayawoc, 46; Norben Cagang Ablania, 38; and Jacky Bernardino,40.
The joint operatives of PDEA-CAR and BCPO conducted a buy-bust operation that resulted in the dismantling of a drug den, apprehension of the said suspects, and confiscation of six (6) plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less one gram with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 6,800 and one block of marijuana weighing more or less 600 grams with an SDP amounting to Php72,000.00.
Inventory and marking of pieces of evidence were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Prosecutor Genevieve Ayochok, DOJ Representative; and Kagawad Erick Tauli of Brgy. East Quirino Hill, Baguio City.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to PDEA-Benguet for documentation and proper disposition.**
