CORDILLERA OBSERVES PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
The celebration of Christmas and the observance of “Misa de Gallo” in the Cordillera region has so far been generally peaceful.
According to the reports from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), from December 16 to 25, 2023, a total of 25 crimes were reported in the region (10 index crimes and 15 non-index crimes).
Further, no major untoward incident was recorded as the Roman Catholics flocked to the churches for the yearly observance of “Misa de Gallo” and as the community celebrated Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.
To note, before the start of the holiday season, the PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR, has ordered the deployment of 1,999 PRO Cordillera personnel to intensify the security measures through increased police visibility and the frequent conduct of patrols in the various places of convergence all over the region.
With the heightened security, compared with the data from the previous year with a total of 49 crimes reported (22 index crimes and 27 non-index crimes), a significant 56% decrease in crime incidents was observed covering the same period.
Meanwhile, all PRO Cordillera police officers are still on full-alert status to ensure that the rest of the holiday season will be celebrated in the safest way possible.
