PRO CORDILLERA’S WEEK-LONG ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUG OPERATIONS DESTROYED OVER P2.8M WORTH OF MARIJUANA PLANTS
As a result of the continuous marijuana eradication operations conducted in the Cordillera Region, PRO Cordillera cops discovered a total of Php2,805,000.00 worth of marijuana plants in the province of Benguet and Kalinga from December 24 to 30, 2023.
Citing the records from the Regional Operations Division, a total of 6,825 Fully-Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php1,365,000.00 were discovered in six marijuana plantation sites in Kibungan and Bakun, Benguet, while 7,200 FGMJP with an SDP of 1,440,000.00 were discovered in a plantation in Tinglayan, Kalinga.
All the marijuana plants were burned by the operatives after proper documentation, while follow-up operations are being conducted to identify other possible marijuana cultivators.
Further, the PRO Cordillera cops continue to inform the public about the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the PNP through the conduct of barangay visitations and information operations in the Cordillera region.
14 WANTED PERSONALITIES ARRESTED; 61 MUNICIPALITIES RECORDED ZERO CRIME
PRO Cordillera’s intensified implementation of anti-criminal strategies and law enforcement campaigns has led to the arrest of 14 wanted individuals, while 61 municipalities in the region reported zero crime incidents from December 24 to 30, 2023.
Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, the Cabalyero cops of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the highest number of arrests, with six wanted persons apprehended, followed by the Napino cops of Baguio City Police Office with four arrests, the Haggiyo cops of Ifugao PPO with two arrests, and the Pasindayaw cops of Apayao PPO and the Lumin-awa cops of Kalinga PPO with one arrest each.
Of the 14 arrested personalities, one individual was listed as the most wanted person at the municipal level.
Also, in the same week, 61 municipalities in the different provinces of the Cordillera and five police stations in Baguio City recorded zero crime incidents.
Zero crime incidents were recorded in the 22 municipalities in Abra, ten municipalities in Ifugao, nine municipalities in Benguet, six municipalities in Apayao, four municipalities in Kalinga, and the 10 municipalities of Mountain Province.
Further, Naguilian Police Station (PS1), Camdas PS2, Loakan PS4, Aurora Hill PS6, and Kennon Road PS8 recorded zero crime incidents out of the 10 police stations in Baguio City.
The PRO Cordillera cops are continuously conducting intensified police operations, police visibility, and community engagement to ensure peace and order in the communities and the safety of the public.
