A VISIT TO BOOST MORALE AND ENSURE THE WELFARE OF OFFICERS
To check the morale and welfare of the police officers in the provinces, the PRO Cordillera Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PCOL ELMER E RAGAY, visited the Inayan cops of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office (PPO) at Camp Geronimo F Montes, Bontoc, Mountain Province on April 11, 2024.
During his visit, PCOL RAGAY reminded the men and women of Mountain Province PPO about one of the top priorities of the Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR, which is the importance of having good mental health and likewise reminded them to strictly follow the guidelines of the new C, PNP.
Additionally, PCOL RAGAY acknowledged that Mountain Province is a peaceful region and encouraged the police force to maintain their efforts in Internal Security Operations by adhering to the guidelines, rules, and regulations.
“Let us continue to work and learn the lessons from the past. To the senior officers, teach your juniors something that could help them grow up and climb the ladder of success in the service,” PCOL RAGAY added.
OVER P3-M WORTH OF MARIJUANA PLANTS ERADICATED; 5 DRUG PERSONALITIES ARRESTED
The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO Cordillera) underscores its unwavering dedication to combating illegal drug activities in the region with a recent successful discovery of over PhP 3.1 million worth of marijuana plants and the arrest of five (5) drug personalities from April 1 to 7, 2024.
According to reports from the Regional Operations Division, the drug personalities were arrested following the discovery of suspected shabu, totaling 4.47 grams, with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP30,396.00 in their possession. Operatives from the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Baguio City Police Office led the successful apprehensions, with two arrests each, while the Abra PPO contributed one arrest.
Of the detained suspects, four were classified as High-Value Individuals, with one identified as a Street-Level Individual. All of the suspects are facing charges for violating R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Simultaneously, separate operations targeted marijuana cultivation sites, resulting in the discovery of four plantations in Benguet province. Benguet PPO operatives discovered 3,675 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants, along with 20,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks and fruiting tops, valued at an estimated PhP3,135,000.00 SDP.
Efforts to identify the cultivators of these illicit sites are ongoing, with all seized marijuana plants promptly uprooted and destroyed on-site by operating units.
Furthermore, PRO Cordillera remains committed to community engagement, conducting barangay visits and informational campaigns to bolster anti-drug initiatives and promote public awareness of the dangers posed by illegal substances.
