Transportation of more than P2M worth of marijuana intercepted in Kalinga
Two local tourists will now be facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested for transporting marijuana bricks with over P2M worth in Tabuk City, Kalinga on the morning of October 14, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the arrested suspects were identified as Mhark Yuzon, 21 years old, from Tondo, Manila; and Jess De Guzman, 49 years old, from Novaliches, Quezon City.
According to Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), they received information from the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) that a vehicle evaded their checkpoint located at Brgy. Dinakan, Lubuagan, Kalinga.
Immediately, Tabuk CPS responded to the said information and they were able to intercept the said vehicle in Brgy. Naneng, Tabuk City. But the driver identified as De Guzman immediately fled from the vehicle leaving his partner Yuzon behind.
The operatives chased after De Guzman while the other responding police officers checked on the vehicle. Upon inspection, they discovered seventeen (17) pieces of marijuana bricks weighing 17,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) amounting to Php 2,040,000.00.
Meanwhile, in an intensive manhunt operation, suspect De Guzman was arrested on the same date in the said barangay.
The Inventory of pieces of evidence recovered was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Ms. Lalaine Balao-ing, DOJ representative; Janette Alagao, media representative; and Kagawad Fidel Belwayan of Barangay Naneng, Tabuk City.
Further, the arrested suspects and seized contraband were brought to Tabuk City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
200 new police officers
200 newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen formally took their oath as the newest members of Police Regional Office Cordillera in a ceremony held at Masigasig Grandstand in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on October 14, 2022.
The event was graced by PBGEN JOHN C CHUA, the PROCOR Deputy Regional Director for Administration, as the guest of honor and speaker and as the administering officer.
As part of the ceremony, PLTCOL RICHARD ALBON, Chief of the Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit-Cordillera presented the candidates for appointment. Afterward, PCOL GLENN D LONOGAN, Chief of the Regional Personnel Records and Management Division (RPRMD), read the appointment orders of the 200 newly appointed personnel of PROCOR.
Then, PBGEN CHUA administered the oath-taking of the newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen which was followed by the ceremonial awarding of the Automated Teller Machine Cards to the appointees.
In his message, PBGEN CHUA challenged the newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen to prove their worth in joining the PNP organization.
“Now, I am challenging every one of you…. to prove to us that you are all worthy of joining the PNP organization, wearing our uniform with vigor, strong-willed determination, and of course above all with integrity,” PBGEN CHUA said
After the oath-taking, the 200 newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen will undergo six months of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course training and six months of Field Training Program as part of their preparation as police officers.
PROCOR cops collar 31 fugitives
Through the intensified anti-criminality campaign being implemented by PROCOR cops, 31 wanted individuals were collared in a weeklong “man hunt” from October 9 to 15, 2022.
Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), for the week, Baguio CPO recorded the highest number of arrests with fifteen (15) wanted persons followed by Abra PPO with eight (8); Benguet PPO with five (5); and Ifugao, Kalinga & Mt. Province PPO with one (1) arrest each.
The weeklong man hunt operation was highlighted by the arrest of an individual listed as No. 8 Most Wanted Person at the Regional Level, Jeprey Grana Bolivar, 25 years old, a resident of Bangued, Abra who was arrested by operatives of Abra PPO by virtue of a warrant of arrest for the crime of Rape.
Meanwhile, as the result of intensified police presence and campaign against criminality during the same period, 62 municipalities in the Cordillera Region recorded zero crime incidents.
In Abra, 24 out of 27 municipalities recorded zero crime incidents while in Mtn. Province, 9 out of 10 municipalities recorded zero crime incidents.
In Ifugao and Benguet, 8 of their municipalities recorded zero crime incidents while 7 municipalities in Kalinga and 6 municipalities in Apayao recorded zero crime incidents. **
